I checked the Passari system in the map yesterday and found “193 ships destroyed in the last 24 hours” AND “98 pods destroyed in the last 24 hours” My question then is like this: What the HELL are people doing still going there?? Is it a deathwish?

Some people believe if you charge headfirst into a brick wall, the wall will give before their head does :D
I mean its like you want corporations to oblige each other like its sex or something. Pffft I would rather **** my enemy.- Rohann
Be careful out there. That other guy waiting in the queue for the gate MIGHT be a baby-munching frock-burner, YOU JUST DON'T KNOW!- Lallante |

because that system is part of a major hub in the area. it's pretty much impractical to go around unless you have a lot of hours to kill. this is why they blockade those gates. and it is also why CONCORD should have greater interest in protecting that area of space.

I realize it's a chokehold but if you know that your odds of survival are VERY small that shouldn't matter. There must be other ways to go. IF that means a 32 jump detour, then so be it. It's better than getting podded.

And out of curiosity does the map when ploting the safest(!) route, takes in consideration the amount of killing in the last 24 hours in a system?

Without really knowing I'd have to say no to that. It's probably just based on security levels.

Most of users who have a life (a job, wife/girlfriend) only play 2-3 hours max / day. To go around the mentioned solar systems would be an extra 30-40 jumps = +1 hour travel time = about 33% to 50% of their playing timeā Would you find this acceptable? Some people can afford to loose their ship and a pod kill so they take the chances. Some people can not afford it but they still take a risk. If they are killed, they will start all over againā.. or maybe notā

30% are sightseers nowadays.
The rest are taking the risk of m00o not being there or being too busy storking their own egos to notice a newcomer.
If you look closely though you can see the number has fallen dramatically - before long the blockade will be more of a charity stop.
They are not making much money - don't believe otherwise.
