we have them already they are called mobile warp disruption generators and come in 3 sizes each with a t2 variant - we even have ships such as the indictor and heavy indictor that also pull ships out of warp
You're misunderstanding the suggestion again. These warp tunnel disruptors will actually pull you out of warp while you're already in warp and not anywhere near your destination. Normal warp disruptors we have right now would only pull you near the edge of the module when you warp into a grid with one.
actually u can place a large bubble along a travel route from one object to another and that bubble will pull a ship out of warp onto that grid.
make a bookmark while u warp from one gate to another and warp back to that bookmarked location and anchor a large bubble and watch as u snag other ships which basically does what your asking for. this is often used to catch macro ratters

Hmmmmm nope... still fails, it only works when the bubble is on the grid where the ship warps to... So, you're still misunderstanding my idea, at any rate the beauty of my idea is that it is masked as a natural anomaly and you can conceal the devices from sight.

I actually was thinking of something similar a while back. They talked back in the AT6 about having in your corp offices a 3d map to layout and plan formations. I thought that could be applied to the T2 version of T3 battleships as a Flagship class where the FC can give more visual orders and such to the fleet via a separate menu to the tactical display.

Edited by: Iamien on 05/11/2009 07:32:50 Honestly, they need to spend the effort of an entire expansion into balancing and fine tuning. Don't add any game-play features that change game balance, spend an entire expansion cycle on balancing risk/reward and ship mechanics.
1. Take a look at each class of ship and see if it is effective in at least it's intended role.
2. If there is a ship that is too flexible to the point of imbalance, remove some functionality.
3. Overhaul weapon mechanics, give us a real combat log, and let our on-board systems analyze the effectiveness of incoming and outgoing damage. Allow weapons to automatically reload after firing last round, instead of wasting a cycle to determine they are empty(Our weapons systems should be able to count). Possibly change it so that firing continues after a reload if the modules weren't turned off.
4. Increase the amount of standing slots that alliances have, even if it is at the expense of removing the list from view to the rank-and-file alliance members, if necessary.(You can still see your relationship between you and them, just not see all alliance standing list).
5. Allow easier reparation of standing with NPC entities that hate you.(Except possibly concord)
6. Allow players to enable immediate notification if they are stolen from.(Your pilot seems to instantly know because our computers are notified of the kill rights, just we aren't.)
7. Fix the mess that is the current corporation role system. There are many very useful roles that are bundled together. Prime example: Standings. It is impossible to give a pilot access to change corp standings without him being a director, which in some situations causes problems.
One example of this problem is when a red is docking at one of an alliances numerous outposts and coincidentally the only members of the holding corp around do not have director, and thus cannot lockout the players.
Another example is the whole PoS management system. A corp member either has access to manage/fuel all towers, or no towers. It is not an unreasonable request to be able to specify that one person has full of control of one PoS and standard access of others. You can simply keep the current system but add in the config of a certain pos that x, y, and z have full access to the tower, contrary to what their global permissions say.

I would like to see CCP phase out the static points in systems and make more use of scanning. And for us to have some more deployables (phase out poses altogether).

I believe it would be a mistake to make a whole patch revolve arround balancing. Besides the fact that you're NEVER going to get it right, there are some other problems. Expectations of players would be disappointed, as it is now people get new content every half a year more or less. A lot of systems in eve are interconnected and influence each other in various degrees, changing too much too too many systems at once would most certainly open just another can of worms, bugs, and other nasty critters you'd rather not swallow.
Guns already reload if they go empty while active, they deactivate afterwards since the guns are too stupid to know whether the target is still valid, I dunno. Although you suggesting this makes me heavily doubt myself even though I DO actually play this game O.o; More accurate logs, always welcome. More standing slots... cool, I myself could do without ^_^ Easier repairing of standing... Agreed, although options should be limited, but reasonable to use. Roles need fixing, yeah we know Limit amount of mission offers, hmmm maybe.
But to be fair to myself, you completely FAILED reading the original post, as I did ask what NEW features would look like, not a recap of old problems we know are there .

Id love to see a massive overhaul to the entire mineral and manufacturing system. to allow different quality matierals to go into different quality components which can then be manufactured into different quality end items.
so basically you can affect the stats of your end item by the components you use to make it.
not necessarily make things worse or better than each other, just different. rather than every Large Railgun I being exactly the same.
Maybe this is one for tech 3 modules, or storefronts.
Im basing this on the original SWG crafting system which is still one of the best ive seen, I remember travelling far and wide fidnign the best parts, or the vendors who sold the items with exactly the stats that i wanted. EVE has such a great market but it seems constrained by the fact that everyones making basically exactly the same stuff.
also system wide asteroid belts and improved mining
last but definately not least, improved missions, no branching storylines, the mission mechanics themselves, theres been a few good threads about this recently. ============================ 2003 and still alive! |

Industrial and Mining Overhaul. And i don't think of "brighter Asteroids" or any graphical stuff (but would also be nice to add something with a WOW Effekt). There are a lot of ideas how industry and mining can become more interesting and how player can get more out of that old producingsystem also in terms of gameplay as well as financial.
Mining: -Asteroids: Let us chase asteroids and get asteroid-materials which can be refined into minerals, ice products and moon materials -Icefields: Why do i just get blue ice within gallente space? All ice in every region. As a lot of pilots are below -5 with some empires they should still be able to get the iceproduct he wants to. -Gasmining: A specialized ship would be nice. Gasbay (10.000 m¦), 6 Highslots, 5 Gun 1 Missile Hardpoint, basic a battlecruiser, drone ability 75m¦ - 50MB/s, ORE Ship. Bonus to Gascycle or/and yield (should be about 25% faster / better) -Exhumers: Increase merc-yield for skiff so it performs better at exhumer 5 then a hulk. Increase cargohold of Mackinaw by 10m¦ (so 2x t1 cargorigs get it above 8000m¦). When i think about this...just set basecargo for all 3 exhumers to 8000m¦. As a skiff performs as well as a hulk with merc it get the same m¦/min +- a bit (which should be in fact even better as it's a special-ship!) but got only what? 4500m¦?!? That's just silly... -Refinery(POS): God Damn change the base yield to 50% for the large one and 30% for the small one and REMOVE the 75% hardcap! WH Mining could be such a nice task while waiting for new combat/Radar/Mag sites but when you throw 1/4 of your stuff away it's just stupid.
Industry: POS Overhaul: See the flogging the dead horse and resurrecting the dead horse threads.
T1 Review: No real idea, just some odd things: Why can I build a BS in 3h but need weeks for a carrier which is not really bigger and is even constructed out of prebuilded items like lego? BS and some other shipclasses are produced to fast. Too few slots...new skills adding 10+ pipes for industrial chars.
Science: Invention: Remove negative ME/PE on base T2 BPC. Base BC should be 0 me/pe and then the decryptor is counted in. This way decryptors with +runs -me get a value. Instead of just failing an invention add a chance to get a BP for a metalevel item. Again to few slots. Add skill for more slots.
General loot: Rat's no longer drop intact T1 Modules (metalevel item generated out of failed inventions) but damaged items which can get reprocessed into minerals (i. e damaged 425mm railgun can get reprocessed to minerals needed to build a 425mm railgun I). Officer/overseer/Factionspawn should behave like today. But their wrecks should always drop T2 Salvage.
All together will result in a more needed producer base and will help the T1 market which is in it's current state just a waste of time.

TIME TRAVEL!
or get it over with and open the eve gate!
make it impossible to camp, and make it a whole new universe to explore separate form wormhole space. Make it basically new regions but with earth and such to be discovered :P
Something cool like the joves are on their last leg, and they have t go back to save their dying race. So they open the eve gate once more! But the gate is only open once a week, but when you jump through the massive scalable warp in point so on one lags out, you can then appear in a random system on the other side.
On the way through, you fight ships of the past and sometimes if your lucky you get cuaght in a time loop and get to see epic battles or ghosts ships! OoooOOooo
The opening of the eve gate will be signified by a gas gaint near the gate suddenly having a black slate looking object appear, which then causes a huge enefry brust to open the eve gate!
The joves invite only pod pilots inside to the new systems! Once inside the new systems new tools and jove modules are required for expolration. These modules only work in earth space, and help expand into the universe. The mission is too rediscover earth!
Instead of gates battle will happen over palnets where crews set up mapping bases. These massive space nodes create pockets of space that shows up on the map for either the jove, or the anti-jove faction. Thus two factions are bron, those who would help the jovians and those who want them to stop tinkering with fate!
there has to be some kind of evil race in eve we don't know about right?
These planets would all give different Effects. Maybe there is some kind of artifact race, and once you build the map marker you can land on the planet and go in joystick controled combat as you fly probes through massive platnet side caves. Each system and planet gives artifact points. However having the map markers allows for for that side to restock faster.
As there is no market in place, everything will be contracts and free trade. There will be jovian agent that give out the exploration mods.
Hell maybe you should get jovian ships too, and you use those to explore earth space, but you can't them back to normal space :P
Now you need a reason to go back! so the reason to go back is the too super advanced races fighting over the artifacts give you LP! This LP is used to buy important things like tech 3 boosters, and new pods. Pods with built in bonuses to any ship you fly them with. But not any normal bonuses, but awesome bonuses that are wierd!
like guns that reduce armor and shield at the same time but do less damage. Guns that decrease the other guys shield resisitances? guns that build up heat on the other ship? not useful of taking down thier modules but it stops them form overheating as it push too fast, and stop them form cooling down.
New warp drives that speed up and slow down faster. Warp drives that if you chasing someone down and your warping fast let you catch the other player in mid warp and dorp you both out to a fight to the death! it auto spawns a marker that shows a huge field. it also gives the defender a way out by spawning a worm hole the past! but should he stay and fight? or risk the unknowns of TIME TRAVEL!
...
ok I'm quite done :P

Do the corruption thing, rly. I want me some low-sec lovin' (at least I think that was the nickname for that idea that came up in vegas from a player-dev brainstorming session)
Add to that: MASSIVE POS OVERHAUL PRETTY PLEASE DO NOT WANT WANT (y'know what I mean, I don't want to have to manage a bazillion structure on a pos to do stuff, omg all those corp hangars /o\ good luck finding a needle in a pos) -- stuff -- |

Extending Faction Warfare to include pirate factions.
A lesser version of the 0.0 sov system for low sec systems, allowing much smaller corporations or alliances to organize in low sec more significantly than they currently can before moving into 0.0.
Walkable ships. (New technology frees pod pilots from their pod)
Eliminating the daily downtime.
Contested low sec raids! (NPC cap/supercap fleets at known locations on long but predictable respawn timers == dragons)

Edit: just some Megascale engineering... something only the really big alliances might construct
You do realise that you need about as much mass as the object you're encompassing to fully realise it right? :p gl mining a moon to encompass a moon... but interesting :)
