Good work, CCP. Some ****ant hacked my account, sold all my assets, and tried to sell off my character.
I'm glad the password that only I know and is only used for Eve is so easy to break, especially when my computer is virus, worm, trojan and whatever-free and was shut down when they did it.
I petitioned it already, but GOD DAMN, this ****es me off. Fix it or I quit.
And no, you can't have my stuff, because it's already gone.

This bites pretty hard but why is it CCP's fault ("Good work, CCP.")? I don't know where you'll be able to get with any sort of reimbursement; so far I'm hack free. Regardless, CCP didn't hack your account. *** Awake in a Space-Dye Vest Struggling with Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence Falling Into Infinity toward a New Millennium While trapped inside this Octavarium. |

First of all, you are going to argue with me until your out of breath, but you are wrong. First step. For eve you have a username and password. How can a third party get both without any input from you even if there were a vulnerability in eve's system for storing passwords.
You most likely were infected with a keylogger, which stole your password before you had turned your computer off. It is probably still there and was undetected by whatever way you determined you were malware free. Another option, though less likely is that you fell for a phishing email or site, that tricked you into thinking their site was legit. Really only possible if you ignore your URL bar.
Now, consider if you were right, that would mean CCP's systems are so open that they can get your username and password with nothing more than a character name.
If there were a vulnerability this big, the hackers would not just do it to a handful of accounts, they would be doing it on a wide scale.

Proove that this didn't happen due to something infecting your computer. Or that is isn't you scamming the guy out of the isk he paid to buy your character.

Bannable?
Yes it is. #16 All scams involving character transfers are prohibited.
So unless CCP looks into it and sees a login from a different state/country this account will be banned and the guy will get his isk back either way.

Whatever dude...not worried about that at all because it was NOT ME who tried to sell the char. Period. End of story.
But I must apologize to CCP because my rant was based on the assumption that my existing antivirus software...how do you put it...worked. AVG is full of FAIL. They linked me to Avira, which appears to have ripped the problem out by the roots.
So yes, I have egg on my face for going nucking futs on the forums. Lesson learned.
Lock it up, mods.

Breaking a rule. Check. Wasting a GM's time with an investigation (or at least a reversal of the deal made). Check. Spamming the forums about it. Check.
If it is a scam, I'd say someone is definately in trouble. At the worst it is incredibly stupid as a scam, considering the deal will just be undone.
If it was actually a trojan. Make sure to nuke the thing. Don't rely on a single anti-virus scan and fix.

And that is offcourse assuming that he has been on those websites. Stupid assumption to be honest.
A friend of mine has also been hacked last night and he hasn't been on those sites because he knew they were full of s**t. Yet he got hacked and his account has been suspended till the investigation has been completed. And yes he has been suspended because as CCP stated in their notice: "your account has been comprimised".
So pls dont draw your conclusions just yet, I think CCP has a bigger problem on their hands than they like to acknowledge. Site can also have flaws, so CCP/EVE home page can have flaws. It strikes me that several ppl have been hacked the last 2 weeks, ppl who have been playing EVE for a long time and know that you dont go visiting "iskie buy sites" because of those risks.
These problems dont have 1 source from where they come, but most of the time have several sources from which they can come from. Meaning that these security breaches could be generated by several problems, be it on CCP site or external sources.
But its said to see that these hacks are on the rising, it ruins the fun ppl have in EVE.

If theres money to be made (and there is) then someone will do it.
I mean look at what happened in DAOC with the mugging bots, that was all to support RMT too. ...
Originally by: CCP Ytterbium ...we do not want to nerf it on that aspect since it is supposed to be part of a sandbox game to adapt a ship outside its original purpose.
