Eve online gives you a 360 Degree view around your ship, lets you adjust some camera angles and advanced camera settings. However, since I have always been a space buff and played much Decent Free Space and homeworld. One game in particular, Homeworld Cataclysm gives you the option not only to view your ships 360 degrees but gives a cool PILOT view! Now I understand that eve pilots are in a pod inside their ship, but I would still enjoy viewing my ship from the 'bridge' or where the central core of my ship may be from.
Simple camera option really to sum this all up. Pilot view, make you feel like your really in your ship! (Think of it during fleet warps and such, fun fun!

Our pods do not look out a window. We have camera drones that serve as our optics.

Camera drones or not. Thats not the point, it would be nice to have a view with the angle coming out from the ship, like the last post says why can't the camera lock to the bridge of the ship?
Still think it would give a great sensation of flying in your ship. also would benefit the Machinema community

****pit view? No. I'll explain why.
99% off the time there would be nothing to look at:
BC/BS/capitals - slow-turning ships - A camera fixed to the bridge would give the player an uncomfortable restricted feel. A lot of the time it would be staring blankly out into some part of space.
Frigs/destroyers - they rely on angular velocity and speed to keep them alive. The camera would end up looking everywhere EXCEPT at your target/pursuer/gangmates, showing you lots of empty space and little else.
Industrials/freighters - Endless cycle of "station - belt - station - belt - station - belt...", or "warp tunnel - gate - warp tunnel - gate - warp tunnel - gate..."
Barges - You would see a static image of space in front of your parked ship, possibly a station your're aligned to, or some roids.
Any bumping ship - When you bump somebody your camera would end up inside their model (break through the textures), looking ugly and reminding you they're just hollow pixels and polygons, thereby breaking immersion.
