I enjoy these aspects of the game, but something happened that has turned me off to the game: suicide gank.
When my industrial ships got attacked in 0.5 a couple of times in one week, I felt EVE has no place for me.
So I've sold all my stuff and am using the isk playing EOH poker. Thing is I paid for a year, so I just log on, check my training and log off. I dont feel the enthusiasm to try and build anything when suicide attacks can take it away. When you are carrying contract cargo and have 100 to 200+ million in collateral at stake, it can be a big loss when your ship is lost. There is no loss to the attacker other than a cheap ship. The game is not balanced in that respect.
Maybe someone will want my character once my sub is up.
Another example of a shortsighted person. Have you heard of transport ships and freighters? Some transport ships got something called a "covert ops cloaking device II", this odd device can be turned on and make your ship invisible (cool eh?) making it pretty much invulnerable to being ganked. You can also use a ship called a "freighter", this ship is slow, but got a crapload of hitpoints, meanng you can transport ANY non capital ship in EVE and not be suicide ganked. Even high grade implant sets are not worth killing a freighter over. Cool eh?

Ok Ill explain for the slow: You get off grid from the gate in case the freighter is using a scout. This way the freighters scout will not see a blob of ravens on the gate and decided to log off mid warp. Then you warp TO the gate from 100,000k off...

Assuming that none of your pilots are running a point, yes you do have 45 seconds, you could keep tossing raven after raven at them. There is a 45 second window in which you have to suicide gank them, where they are 100% incapable of doing anything to stop you. If you bump them or have warp disruptors on your suicide gank ships, the window is extended.
