Also most account theft is due to keyloggers or people who write down their complicated passwords and that sheet of paper gets stolen. This wont be much help for those people.

Download or use pirated software (notorious for keyloggers). Give friends their account information. Provide account information to 3rd party sites or services (i.e. ISK, Mission grinding, Sec status grinding ..etc..). Clicking on sites that require users to run, activate or execute external scripts. I can go on and on, the fact of the matter is ITS up to individuals to protect THEIR account information! Also, CCP if they really want to make a difference they can do what blizzard does with key authenticators.

Having a note isn't "remembering", it's typing it down somewhere for someone to read. Also, consider that everytime you need to log in you still have to insert that password into the client. This is where, if your machine is compromised, the account stealer gets your password. I settle with passwords that can be typed fairly quick and remembered easily like: "1h4d4d0g" or "hex539equalsl33t" I also remember, way back in the days when i got my second PC, a 4:86 33MHz that came with DOS 5.0 the first thing i did was read the entire DOS manual. On the last page was an ascii table and that's when it struck me. I created a folder named "Mother" + (alt+255) +".cpu" where i kept all the stuff i wanted to keep safe. I challenged all my friends to gain access to that folder and not a single one of them knew the trick. It didn't even work in windows because windows just said "Error, cannot access folder mother .cpu" That worked for years until i finally told them how simple it really was. (Also, norton commander could deal with the folder just fine) Where am i getting at? It's not how complicated your "password" is that keeps you safe. as long as your password isn't a single word in any dictionary and longer than 6 or 8 characters someone will have to spend a lot of time trying to crack it from the outside. I sure hope the eve servers will detect and lock out such offenders when they failed the login for the 5th time in 5 seconds. My opinions belong to me, you can't have them!

I think a lot of the hacking could be cut down just by this and requiring a password contain both capital and lowercase letters, numbers, and a special character, ie. !@#$%^&*()_)+. No key fobs needed I believe they do this, except it's done manually by GMs. I've heard of people having their accounts banned because GMs noticed people trying to brute-force their password.

Empty bag onto keyboard. Same effect, but much much more amusing. Veal, murder. Baby Carrots, healthy snack. Food hypocrisy at work.

Or..(hint hint ccp) that idea I made a thread about where they put a mouse driven virtural keyboard interface popup for the client that uses a proprietary code for the keys and keeps the mouse clicks internal to the client. That would stop a ton of hacks that were not forum login related(again because we have to use the same login details for both:P) to a minimum. No fobs required.

It's not about how complicated the password is, it's about how much it's not directly linked to you. Your password could be Dave, so long as there are no Daves associated with your life. If you don't have a keylogger, then people will most likely be using something that's familiar to you, like your mom's name. So if you're Korean, Dave is probably fullproof, though some numbers probably wouldn't hurt. So just use something that's meaningful to you, so it's easy to remember, that no one would guess from a casual perusal of your residence, plus a number or character, and you're probably airtight. And how could your friends not gain access to the folder?
