Can you provide more details other than "It goes through the same router".
Phones typically should be put through an ADSL packet filter which is generally connected directly into the wall. Not sure on how it works for Cable packages, hence we require more info (Supplier, Type of connection...) _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

Actually my friend has this same issue with Verizon.
He has DSL, and we would ever play Halo 3 matchmaking together. Whenever someone called his house phone he would get DC'd from the match and would have to reconnect to Xbox Live.
I know this isn't the same game or service, but it was the same issue.

Make sure the phones in the house are connected to DSL filter adapters that go in between the phone and the wall. This stops them from interrupting internet traffic.

Sounds like you haven't set your filters up properly at the wall. That use to happen to me when our house got its first broadband connection of 576Kb/s of pure ownage.

I would sugjest finding this socket of yours that is causing you issues and attempt to jimmy it open with something... like a screwdriver. Once opened you should be able to keep it open easily by jamming something like a pen into the mechanism.
Hope it helps

Another thing that you may want to check is that the filter itself can go bad. I have replaced two of them in my house over a couple of years. If your DSL is like mine, they should have sent you like five filters. If not, call them up and get a few more.
