What happens when you fight back at the faction navies, like when you enter Gallente Space with -5 standing and they all start shooting at you?
Does anything bad happen to your standings if you blow them up? Does Concord play any part, or security status? Do more show up? Can you agress them yourself?
Do you get anything good out of it? Like insignias, faction gear, loot, faction standings etc?
Is it a viable income stream just flying through enemy space, waiting for the Navies to agress, then blowing them up for loot and salvage?
Thoughts?

Nothing happens except they take damage and pop.
Yes you lose faction standings. in relatively small amounts per ship kill.
Concord does not play any part if you are in the opposing militia. Security status of system determines strength of Navy Spawn. Yes they re spawn once popped. Yes you can aggro them yourself.
No tghey dont drop any loot at all.
No its not an income stream. I dont know if you can salavge actualy.
Dont shoot them. tank them, avoid them to get at your unwary FW targets and loot them.

Thanks for the comprehensive response. I'm not actually in the militia, I was just thinking about doing it for fun.

Edited by: Aralieus on 05/11/2009 02:33:24 I was once en route to FD-MLJ from Amarr on test server and had to go thru Gallente space to reach my destination. So...on my way there I encounterd the Gallente Navy, I was in a Pilgrim and there was 2 frigs, 2 cruisers and 1 BS that engaged me at the first gallente gate I came to. I tanked them for a bit and decided to warp to the 1st planet to see how many I could kill. Well I got thru the 2 frigs with much suprised ease and was working on the last cruiser when I ran out of cap boosters . So suffice to say I popped rather quickly with no tank.
To answer your questions:
1. Nothing happens, its like fighting mission NPC's tbh. As long as you can tank them your good.
2. Your Gallente faction decreases but nothing to worry about unless your trying to gain them back.
3. Concord does not intervine whatsoever. Your sec status doesnt matter either as long as you are originally allowed in that system. Meaning if it was somewhere were you didnt have problems with the faction navy and could enter. Not sure if you can aggres yourself, they shot me first and I shot back. I would think you could aggress but not sure.
4. Didnt check wrecks but thats a good question. Will have to see next time
5. You will need a pretty solid ship to fight faction navies, so it could get very exspensive very quickly so I wouldnt suggest it. You will spend more than you could make if you could make any at all.
Edit: Im not in any militia either

tehe
Well if your going to try it, use Kin/Therm Hardners and whatever ammo there most vulnerable to towards I forgot tbh, just check any carebears bio, it should be there. Basically a mission ship geared towards gallente rats. BC or higher should work or a command ship like you said, but remember you could very easily die so if the iskies arent a problem go for it.

IIRC they don't drop any good stuff, but haven't tried myself. Of course, for the Cal/Gal front, there's the Caldari Titan in Luminaire, which has killable escorts, and then there's rumoured to be hidden Gallente complex in Black Rise hisec with quickly respawning Gal Navy NPCs (part of the Caldari epic arc?)

That is unfortunately not true. You will get a big popup that very bad things will happen to your standing but they don't deliver on that promise. I'm -8 to amarr and when I went on a killing spree on SiSi I didn't get a single entry in the faction log even though I killed 50+ amarr navy ships outside the Amarr Otis station.
I can recommend a 100% passive Vulture if you plan on pulling the same stunt as your cap will be neuted to 0 and stay there. A passive Ishtar will work fine in 0.5-0.6 though.
I bug reported this nearly 2 months ago and not a single BH seems to dare touching it...
