Ok, I've had this behavior for about a week in WH space, I launch my drones, tell them to mine, for example, jaspet. They circle the asteroid endlessly "mining" but never return to me with any ore. I can recall them, but I get nothing when I do. I haven't been in k-space for a while to check behavior there, but this can't be right? (or did I miss a huge change in a patch somewhere?) |

Ok, after more testing, this does NOT occur if I just "mine", only if I "mine repeatedly", doesn't matter what I'm mining, that's the only factor I can find. (tried some bistot, jaspet, scordite, arkonor, etc.)
Any ideas?

Further testing has revealed this occurs only with the physically larger asteroids, those that force the drones to orbit at greater distances. I have not been able to put a number on just what point it occurs at of yet. I am testing to determine what radius causes the bug now.

Well, mining drones only have a 5k range so they would have a problem with bigger rocks.

Yeah, mining drones have always had a problem with larger rocks. Some rocks my drones mine once, even though they are told to mine repeatedly. Kind of weird, has something to do with drone range. Not really sure, exactly.
Edit: Always since I've been playing, at least.

Another thing to keep in mind is that t1 mining drones are not able to mine the ABC ores. you need mining drone operation 5 and at least drone interfacing 3 and use t2 drones in order to mine the ABC ores.

that is not true, i use mining drone 1's and they bring back 1 piece of bistot each lol. but yea in 0.0 the veldaspar roids are so big that drones cant mine them, its a problem. :/

yup my drones can mine those aswell, better than nothing tho

I have noticed this behavior when trying to mine larger astroids too, you'll send them to mine the roid, and they'll just stay in orbit.
