äYou'd like to experience EVE, then become a mercenary.ô
This was an advert a few years ago which promised to everyone lots of ISK and a life full of action and adventure.
Now, after being a few years in the mercenary business, I can say this is really true.
Well, maybe the huge payment was a bit to euphoric, but for all these young and young at heart adventurers without any other qualification, the choice of a mercenary occupation is like the platinum lottery ticket at the Trans-EVE-Lottery.
As a mercenary you do a lot of travelling throughout the EVE universe. Just now we've successfully finished a contract within a wormhole. Our target has been the alliance ôTerminal Logicö which we've been fighting since a week and by then we have already broken their resistance, so that they had to withdraw more and more.
A few days ago our recon forces spotted a POS inside a wormhole as the result of a constantly and sustained observation. The POS had everything what a corporation needed to live inside a wormhole, hangar array, weapons, disruptor, etc.
The operations staff started the operation called ôAll your Base are belong to usö at once, with the goal to destroy the POS inside the wormhole. After carefully planning ship types and fittings, the pilots were briefed with all necessary details.
Also, they organized transport ships for additional ammunition and everything else what you might need to build a temporary HQ inside the wormhole. And all that in less than 24 hours.
At first the POS defence has been eliminated then the force field followed. In the meanwhile our enemy tried to save their ships which were all inside the POS or the hangar array. They tried to get out through one of the wormhole exits but found it covered by our forces and hardly one of them could escape. The force field kept going down and our enemy switched tactics, they pressed the self-destruct button on all remaining ships. We hope those ships have been insured.
Finally, the POS was going into reinforce mode and we anchored our own. On the next day we finished the POS without any further incidents.
We maybe have given you an idea of what it's needed to plan and prepare such operation. And that's also another interesting part of being a mercenary. Everyone who is interested in planning and logistics can accept a challenge with every new contract. There are many different ways to fulfil your profession depending on your time and talent.
ôTo be a mercenary is more than push F1 to F8.ö
It's happen all the day that aggressive corporations or alliances put pressure on peacefully industrial corporations and laughing about them. But if those corporations hire mercs to help defending themselves, well, let's say ôThe tide has turned.ö and the hostile corporation turned into a picture of misery.

As a mercenary you never stay on the ôgoodö side only, if something like the good side even exist in our dark universe. But we are often a helping hand to those who don't want to be blackmailed.
It is often a well-considered investment into the future of those corporations, because they would hardly attacked twice of the same aggressors if still so many other corporations out there who want defend themselves.
Nevertheless, in our business we can't afford any sentimentality. That's why....
ô The employer is always right.ö
We hope, we could show you a bit of what it meant to be a mercenary. We are a part of the EVE universe for a long time and every CEO should have paid attention to it.

Good story but just so you know being a merc is only one aspect of eve.You dont have to be a merc to get the eve experience.
