Nope, Eurovision = greater Europe area (i.e. the EU and pretty much all of the former USSR)
Ehm.... not sure there, could be, it's certainly old enough.
Eurovision is a complete waste of broadcast time since all of eastern europe joined in. Mostly voting for each other meaning good songs don't stand a chance to win any more unless they're from one of those countries.

They're reviewing the issues raised by the eastern europe block-voting.
The point is there are some halfway decent songs in there (and, yes, some to torture neighbors with) which you will never grow to hate because you won't hear them playing everywhere you ****ing go for seven years.

It was a good laugh in the latter days of Wogans commentary. So many priceless comments.
This is a pretty good description of Eurovision;

Somebody once told me that if I watched the Eurovision I was just like anyone who is addicted to reality TV.
I pointed out that reality has NOTHING to do with the Eurovision. He conceded.
It is like iceman says, a freakish pocked of unreality which briefly makes you feel like the world has come off-kilter and been replaced by something weird and confusing, but without the kidney damage usually associated with mind altering drugs.

Canada, no. It is a part of the Commonwealth but not Europe. Outdated, no. What do we think? Pointless. Because nations don't vote for the best song, but their neighbours. Scandainavian countries stick together, the eastern european countries too, and as they split into new countries on a weekly basis, there's so many now that the voting is largely a farce. With Terry Wogan to take the pi*s out of it all, there's little left to watch it for.
"With a hi hi ho and a hi hi hey, we are the wolves of the sea...." Gotta love those latvians. I think it's the Somali national anthem. -------------

Eurovision should be taken with some sense of humor and understanding that it is about the entire act, not just the song. I don't think most of the acts are even popular in their home countries and almost always end up being one hit wonders. Usually we vote for the act we think might get votes, but most propably don't personally care much for it.
The whole thing has just become a popular competative event between countries and an entertaining show. It might not be the most relevant thing, but it is just as important as all the other meaningless crap TV is full of. It might not produce superstars anymore, but it is much more entertaining then most commercial music events and has its ties to national pride, so to me it is more relevant them most similar purely commercial efforts.

No, becauase they are only Associate Members of the European Broadcasting Union. Several Non-European countries are Active members though, including Isreal, Egypt and Libya. These CAN enter, because the criteria are based on the rules of the Television organisation, not geography.

Eurovision is a load of rubbish. Graham Norton is funny as a comedian, but not as a commentator.
Without Wogan, it's just camp. And ****. People seem to have forgotten that it's not about winning the prize, it's just about taking the **** out of every other European nation. See, we [UK] came 3th last time, which isn't too shabby given our recent record, but the show was boring as hell. -----

Half of the points administered by a country are now given via a panel from that country that don't vote along national lines. That's why the voting was actually reasonably fair this year. ________________________________________________

1.) Nope, Canada isn't in Europe (yet)
2.) Eurovision, originally intended to engender closer ties between the countries of Europe... Why is Israel competing? I pretty sure it's not part of the EEC or even a close neighbour.
3.) As a European, the last time I actually saw Eurovision on TV was many years ago when I was a small child, so I echo Grimpak's sentiment, "Kill it with fire!"

Oh, and ignore the votes they're pointless.
The Eurovision gets roughly this good and no, that song finished nowhere of interest.

I was totally expecting a rickroll there but as I suck at using proxies I guess I will never find out now.
