Hey guys,
I received the bill for my credit card in the mail earlier this week, and I saw that I was being billed for eve online. However, I had cancelled my subscription back in August...
Then I remembered, I had filed a petition to reactivate my account for 1 day free of charge so that I could give back a BPO to a friend. After the 1 day free was up, I could no longer log into eve... However, it turned out that 30 days after the 1 day free reactivation, my account was automatically rebilling itself. I have been charged for 2 months of playtime, yet I have not logged in or been around for it. I did not authorize these charges!
So, lesson learned, CCP's system may be glitchy and billing you for time, even though you did not authorize any charges! Make sure you check your monthly statements!
I have filed a petition, but so far I have not gotten a response. Tomorrow I will contest these charges with my credit card company if CCP does not credit my account.

The one day reactivation is given under the assumption that you are using a plex to reactivate your account.
It is not meant to be abused to "give itams to ur frenz".
You got served.

I was going to reactivate, but I changed my mind last minute... eve takes up too much time.
What CCP did is unlawful, as I never authorized the charges. |

Contradiction... You went from saying you just wanted to give a BPO to a friend to deciding to reactivate, but then changing your mind last minute.
Waiting for backpedalling.

lawl, you are reading into it too much. The ultimate result was just me giving him a BPO back, but the original intent was to purchase a PLEX. I figured I would spare you guys the details, though.

Edited by: Jovoich on 08/11/2009 11:26:21 To be fair tho guys. Regardless of why he requested the 1 day activation. He didn't give CCP permission to bill his card and I would tend to agree it wouldn't hold up in a court of law.

To play Devil's Advocate...
- So you missed last month's CC statement that showed the debit?
- You also missed the monthly email from CCP informing you that you were charged?
Technically you did.

Thanks for sparing us the details. I guess we will have to try and read between the lines from the limited information you chose to divulge.
If you are genuine (which is a tad suspect), then CCP will have logs showing that you have not logged on for the past couple of months.

So you thought you could get free playtime to "give a BPO to a friend", with "the intention to reactivate" and now you're mad you got charged for getting what you wanted?

If this indeed happened as you said, then it is an error that your credit card company needs to be informed of immediately...even before you petition CCP. They can contact CCP and settle the matter much quicker than it will be solved by posting on the forums.
Always always always ALWAYS contact your credit card company or bank immediately if you notice any unauthorized charges.
Never never never NEVER trust the company who's charging you without your authorization to take care of the issue.

The WHAT ? Since when ? Do you get an email from CCP saying you are being charged ? Note : I am on a yearly payment plan plus buddy program bonuses that make my billing period longer than one year, so I haven't been on the monthly payplan for ages, therefore can't confirm nor deny this.

Confirmed every time CCP charges they send a E-mail out stating such. I think it started around Apochypha release @ least I have notices as far back as that.

I had a charge dispute on another MMO. Had the CC company reverse the charge no prob.
Only drawback was that the MMO perma-banned the account.

As I see it:
1. You ask CCP for 1 day activation so you could activate the game with intention to playing. 2. When you log in, you start playing the game, and the first thing you do is transfering a BPO 3. You have a change of mind. You dont want to play anyway. 4. CCP who only grants a free day to players who plan to activate the game with a plex see this breach of your intention, in addition to you playing the game by moving items found on character to another one. 5. They rightfully bill you for playng the game, which you applied for: to play the game. 6. You emorage since you aint able to play for free.

I just contested these charges; the credit card company put the amount back into my account.
But, here are a few details. Last week I just received the bill from Sept 17th to Oct 16th. It's not like i could have responded months ago... I don't do electronic banking.
Also, no I have not logged into eve at all since the 1 day reactivation. Hell, I even uninstalled eve from my computer. |

What is righfull about them billing you for 1 month (or 2 as he says)? The one day reactivation is done by ccp to actually lower the bar for people to return to the game. Its a marketing instrument.
You ask for 24h of gameplay and they give that, you didnt ask for a 30 day billing on your CC.

I can only assume that as you got the 1 free day and your payment method was still credit card, as you never applied a plex/gtc, that you got charged when that free day ended.
had you not logged in on the free day to do things in game, and then again log into use the forum service I'm pretty sure ccp would be happy to refund you.
ah well w/e your problem.

So you posted, on a forum where only people with active acounts can post, a warning that CCP may have activated their account without their knowledge.

How ******ed are you? he didnt ask for a 30 day subscription he asked for a day to get a plex something ccp gives for free (i assume they have a limit on how many times a year they do it tho).
It has nothing to do with a end user license agreement.
Hai ccp can i haz 24h to resub? Sure customer here have a free 24h pass and we hope you will stay for attleast 30 more days.
He asked for a 24h renewal and ccp grants that in the hope u stay longer he never asked to be re-subscribed. Its marketing stupid!
He might not have gotten that 30 day extention via a plex but he also didnt agree on a automatic renewal of his subscription. I do hope you understand if you get a in game plex for isk that you wont be billed on your CC right. The cc billing is a mistake.
