I'm sure I must be missing something here. I have the prototype sensor booster on a Gallente Destroyer. It doesn't seem to be giving any range bonus. Perhaps I'm looking at it wrong.
I though the boost to scan resolution would do the following. 1) Make locking onto ships faster. 2) Make getting max damage when firing more likely, but not actually increasing damage 3) Increasing range of my guns.
Am I wrong here? Or perhaps it just increase the Optimal range of guns? Also if anyone could give me an idea of how much the Sensor Booster might affect these stats that would be great. I don't seem to be noticing much of a difference between turning it on and off.
Any info would be great.

Yes, you are wrong. The only thing scan resolution does, is make you target faster.
To hit for more damage you want to increase your accurasy, either by tracking, signature resolution or range - of the guns.
To increase range of your guns, use a tracking enhancer, tracking computer or locus rigs. Or of course skills and implants which can improveall of the above. With a script a tech 2 sensor booster gives you about 60% more scan resolution OR targeting range depending on script.(without script it gives half of that, to both) In effect it won't really remove (1-(1/1.6) 47.5% of your locking time, but not far from. Exactly how much is removed depends on individual targets, google for the exact formula. Parrots, commence!

Wow, thank you for the fast reply. That info certainly clears some things up.
I appreciate the information.

Unscripted sensor booster will give a boost to both targeting range and scan res. Scripts will enhance their stated stat, but decrease the other stat. In other words, you will suffer a hit to targeting range when using a scan res script. Vice versa for the targeting range script.

also, sensor booster need to be activated, so it wont show the bonus on your fitting screen like passive modules. ----- GIEV custom ship paint jobs! I want my hello-kitty-kessie! |

It nullifies the boost that particular sensor booster would have given. A sensor booster goes from +30% scan resolution and +30% targeting range to double in one and none in the other. Or in other words +100% to one and -100% to one. You can never get shorter targeting range or lower scan resolution by fitting or scripting a sensor booster. Parrots, commence!

its both, enchancher is lowslot passive, and computer is mid slot active(and can be scripted) ----- GIEV custom ship paint jobs! I want my hello-kitty-kessie! |
