Ok nothing sounds cooler to me then doing 0.0 group stealthbomber runs. Currently I am a low sec pirate and have another 3 days before I can covert ops cloak and another 11 days before I can use bombs.
Is it even worth the trouble? I mean I have a good income and am only 6 days from flying a raven. I honestly hate flying my drake, but SB just are not useful in low sec unless I am missing something.

Edited by: Dirty Wizard on 10/11/2009 20:40:19 For starters, you can't use bombs in low sec. Only in null sec and wormholes. Plus IMO bombs don't do nearly as much damage as they should. I've seen drakes and HACs withstand a full volley of bombs without popping. Ship resistances are pretty strong which can twart bomb damage.
Anyways, stealth bombers are very specialized. By yourself you're extremely vulnerable and won't be doing that much damage. Especially to targets smaller than battleships and battlecruisers.
Their ant-blob function for which they're intended for is still fairly weak. __________________________________ Want to help fix the CSM process? Show your support here. |

What? Why can't bombs be used in low sec?

You'd have to ask CCP. It's their decision. __________________________________ Want to help fix the CSM process? Show your support here. |

sb is good for gang operations, especially when paired with a good ecm pilot to cover hit and run attacks. I am presuming that your a caldari pilot, you may wish to consider cross training amar or minmatar to get the bonus for em or thermal. em is good for bombs because alot of the armour tank ships have no em resist, meaning that a single bomb will stip away their initial buffer with one shot. this means that your gangs opening torpeado attacks are already hitting his primary tank. Large gangs of SBs can be be deadly, especailly when supported to fill in their weaknesses, a good AM cerb will help to deal with any pesky frigs, a good falcon pilot will do good things for the gangs survival rate ect. I recomend fitting he gang with a smattering of e-war moduals, a good mix of sensor damps, target painters, tracking disruptors and ECM will annoy the heck out of any unfortunate battleship gang to be caught in your tackle. all that being said SB is pretty weak solo not enough dps to bring down anything correctly fitted except for a e-war ship

A well aimed bomb will kill a falcon with fully recharged shields instantly.
And they're very different from a Raven, they are extremely hard to catch, even in 0.0 with a bubble on a gate. They're made to kill BCs and BS (cruisers work too) and be in a gang. You can be 1 volleyd by many ships in this game, so you have to always be aligned at full speed and ready to warp out at any time. I can fly them, never did (cause I have Missile Launcher Operatio 3 ) but my corpmates that fly SBs really love them.

Correct, but for the wrong reasons. A SB does DPS exceeding that of most gank-fit battlecruisers. The reason you don't solo in it is because it has nothing resembling a tank, and thus getting in point range is suicidal.

There you go giving away all our sekrets!!!! *waves hand* This not the corp you are looking for...
Even using just Torps SBs can be very effective in small gang warfare. "By way of deception, thou shalt do war"

I can't think of any other ship that can be an effective cloaked scout while still supplying DPS to a small gang than a Stealth Bomber. Even mediocre skills should get you 350 DPS, and being able to warp cloaked is awfully handy. It's a nice surprise to have to semi-bait larger ships (BC's and BS's) - find a BC enemy, bring in a cruiser gangmate which the BC will gladly engage, then decloak the SB and blow him up.

Good suggestions here. I just finished training the hull last week and now working on the weaponry. Can't wait to use it.

350 DPS in a SB is embarrassingly bad. 350 DPS is only acceptable if it's because you're using javelin torps.

Some Solo SB Kills Here
Somewhere around the beginning of June that character started pulling off some solo SB kills (primarily BC/BS ratters.)
I pulled that from some thread back around then...I don't have the link for it, but you know you should search for that character's name, Eve forums, and stealth bombers. Google will tell you the link if you ask just right. |

depends drones in or out, I guess if you nail your opponent with the bomb while his drones are in the blast radius it would solve the problems pretty easy. afterthat burn at 500 to get in under tracking and yeah you could take down a ratter. still risky as all heck. a flight of warrior 2s will ruin your day.

they are gonna change the requisites for bombs, you will save some time training :)
Bomb Deployment has Missile Bombardment at level 4 as a prerequisite (instead of level 5)

Here the guide I made to the solo bomber, it also help to clear a lot of misconception about bomber, and the general usage that can be made of them
up to my 72th solo battleship kill using my bomber, and i still love it
