I just got my 4th agent, but my 2 last agents haven't been giving me any daily missions at all. So I just wondered how long I would have to wait to get my first mission?

I've not done R&D agents in a while but last I did they went like this.
Travel to agent, Me:hey I'd like a mission, Him:get me veld, Me:here, Him:AWESOMES!!!, next day you get an evemail telling you that you need to go chat to him again.
If you do it, it's a "goto line 10" the next day and so on and on and on and on and ariston....
If you flake out and ignore him, he'll just sit there looking lonely untill you finally turn up to hand over 333 veld or however much he desires.

tl;dr
if you do the agent mission you'll get another the next day, if you don't you don't.
Doing missions for R&D agents doubles your rp for that day alone and nothing else.
You'd be better off grinding the sec agent missions for that corp so you can get access to the other lvl4 R&D agents.
Then you just have to do it for the other factions...

They usually trigger once a day once you get back in touch with the agent
I tend to do mine on a Sat and a Sun, and just ignore the trigger until then... zip around and pick up datacores and then sit tight until the next weekend rolls around.

Problem is that 2 of my agents haven't offerd me a mission yet.. started them 2+ days ago or so. I know that the agent is supposed to give out a mission each day.
But I guess I'll just wait and see if they offer me a mission soonish. I can just do the missions for my l4 r&d agent while I wait.

I have a lot of rnd agents, and a couple of them flat out refuse to give me missions, the rest will give me 1 once a day.

If you talk to the agens (just start conversation) they give the mission almost directly.

There is a small bug with many of the R&D agents.
They will for some reason simply not give you that first mission no matter how much you bug them and hang around the station beeing annoying.
If you sign up an agent and they haven't offered you a mission after two days (make sure you talk to them for the first one), then petition under which ever heading has the list of agent names. Request to have the agent reset and the GM will have it done in about 30 seconds most of the time.
Once you get that first mission, everything is gold and they will contact you each day, as long as you keep running missions.

In fact:
R&D Mission get offered every 20h.
So if you trigger it right you can get 6 missions in 5 days.
And Yes, when you don't talk to the agent since the last mail they won't bother you until you start talking to them again (thank good).
You don't need a mail from the agent to start a mission. As soon as it's possible you've the option when you are at the station in the agent dialog.

When I do my collection runs, I talk to them. Most of them give me a new mission, but some just don't offer a mission. It's bizarre.

There's also a bug where the agent won't talk to you when you just get the standing to do so (like L3 to L4 agents). You have to re-log the client for it to work... 
On another note, I also have an annoying sig.
