Atm on Sisi:

This must be a terrible joke from the Devs, Buff the Naglfar with Apoc 1.5 and then reverse the changes one patch later, WTF?!?!
I mean the original bonuses were: 7.5% Proj.Rof and 5% Missile Rof,
Then we got (with Apoc 1.5): 7.5% Proj.Dmg and 7.5% Proj.Rof
and now this?!? These are actually the worst yet!
How Schizofrenic is this? Its not even 4 months on TQ in its current form.
Leave the Naglfar as it is now on TQ!

it works now because the torps have been boosted significantly, i think you'll find they do about 60% more dps total.
(given huge ROF boost, and increased damage per torp. - i'm a phoenix pilot, so i wud know :) nag should now be real nasty.)

Also we spent years arguing against the split weapon system, they say they cant change it because...but they give us a bonus to emphasise one wep system. Then one patch later they reverse the change - but more than that - they make the bonuses worse than they originally were

Citadel cruise and citadel torps have been split. To make the change unncessary. So nerfing it is fine.
Also proj changes along with short range boost is just fine.

Edited by: Dratic on 13/11/2009 19:41:56 Not only that. The optimals and tracking on all dreads have been reduced. Long range captial weapons do less damage and for projectiles the ammo that gives you enough range have less damage as well. So bye bye sniper dreads.
Close range stuff like blasters and autocannons have had quite a bit of a buff to damage.

you can hit stationary capitals [other dreads] (under 25m/s) and POS towers, which is what dreads are supposed to shoot.

unless they changed the explosion radius on citadel torps/cruises from yesterday, you are still ****ed

Citadel Cruise: 1500m Citadel Torpedo: 2250m Fighter Bomber: 3500m
So Cruise will hit medium pos and dreads for full damage, but torp will not. Cruise is currently not affected by guided missile precision.

i bet 5isk the dude who writes the descriptions figured 'wow, dual projectile bonus, this must be a typo they gave me, i'll fix that.'
pro-tip: go back and read the CCP post on nag re-balancing, and then ask the dev!
Also not sure if you edited your copy over from SISI Linas, or they changed it again, but now it says
"5% bonus to Missile Launcher rate of fire per level." (missing the capital wording if it matters)

Looks like they're nerfing all tracking/exp velocities etc till dread can't hit anything, to try and justify this ridiculous role they invented for the new improoooooved supermegahypercarrier.

All dread guns had the siege mode tracking penalty applied to base stats so that titans weren't mincing BS anymore.

what ZZJ said, plus there is at least some mitigation to the tracking changes with the siege module now having less of a tracking penalty.
BUT the question remains - Why nerf the Naglfar after you only boosted it (finally after YEARS) in thre last patch. NO MORE MULTI WEAPON BONUSES - if you cant change it to a 3 turret Dread, then maintain its turret only bonuses.Otherwise we're just right back where we were
Do I have to link the Naglfar balance thread that we had a few months back?

Split weapon bonuses are bad. This has been agreed on for years by just about every involved party. At this it has been recognized, stated and ignored by CCP (Scythe Fleet Issue), but never refuted. The Naglfar had its split bonus removed. The latest faction ship rebalancing had the removal of split weapon bonuses as one of its cornerstones.
After years of being the - literally and figuratively - capital laughingstock, the Naglfar got changed to being a Minmatar ship. Projectile Turrets as main weapons platform, missiles as supplementary damage. It also got rid of the split weapon bonus, which is inherently bad since there are no split weapon damage mods.
Now, from the numbers I have been able to crunch so far, the Naglfar is back close to a useless 50/50 split, dps wise. Including the newly introduced design flaw of the increased explosion radius for citadel torpedos, something that worked awesome for T2 Rage Torps when Siege Launchers got changed, but can not work for dreads since opposing dreads in siege can't be target painted.
Please CCP, stop trying to recreate the Typhoon over and over again. The Phoon works because its peak DPS in a gank setting is 50%+ above comparable ships, something you simply won't do with dreads.
Citadel Torps got changed, Citadel Cruise introduced, shortrange XL ammo got a 9.1% damage increase, so the 7.5% rof / 7.5% dmg bonus the Naglfar got with Apocrypha to make it competitive needs revisiting, we understand. Tone it down to 5% rof or 5% dmg or so, but for the love of your preferred deity, do not start to reintroduce those crappy split weapon bonuses. Keep the dual projectile bonus.
