INGAME CHANNEL: "Mechwarrior4" without the quotation marks.
Hello gentlemen, do you all like Mechwarrior? I feel that Mechwarrior is what EVE would be if it was an FPS with joystick controls. The customization, the skills, the cool factor... All of these make the game an enduring classic. With the anticipation of Mechwarrior 5 reaching a critical pitch I feel compelled to play the game again, and I hope you will all join me.
I wish to create an EVE MW4 league, because I feel the game is best played in a team setting with one lance fighting another. That said there is plenty of fun to be had doing free for alls or just random teams without going through the hassle of arranging your own lance, so if you lack friends to form a lance with and just wish to play by all means join us.
In fact the players who are not able to rally enough mates to form their own lance can be freelance ringers to fill out teams that are short at a given time if they like. Keep in mind that no one will be keeping score per se the league format is just because 4v4 with actual teams is a lot of fun, not because it is going to be hyper-competitive.
The ingame channel MOTD contains all the information necessary to get Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries and upgrade to the version we are using (Which is Mektek 3.02b). My dream is for us to have several lances so we can do some fun 4v4 action, or at the very least some random team games or some FFAs. It would be really great if this takes off and people get involved so POST YOUR SUPPORT and join the ingame channel if you want to play. I personally will do any format of game any time, FFA, 1v1, 2v2, 4v4, 2v2v2, etc.
LEAGUE RULES:
A lance will consist of four memebers, and before a match a team weight limit will be establishded. The cumulative weight of the mechs fielded by a lance must not exceed this number.
No crosstech, ONLY clan weapons on clan mechs, and ONLY inner sphere weapons on inner sphere mechs. A lance may contain both clan and inner sphere mechs although I think it would be cool to have Clan VS. Inner Sphere at least sometimes.
Best out of three, no respawns. The battle will take place on three open field maps (Ie. maps with open fields, mountains, etc). Each lance may choose one map, and the third map determined by either a coin toss or group consensus. The winning team is the last team with one or more mechs standing.

Q: I want to play with you guys, but a league sounds too hardcore for me, are you doing anything less competitive?
A: Why yes! We will be doing plenty of non-league games just for fun with varying formats decided by whoever wants to participate at the time. Just join the ingame channel "Mechwarrior4" and ask for a game/ruleset and we will accommodate you.
Q: I want to play, but I do not own a joystick, this is a joystick game right?
A: The games supports a mouse as well as a joystick, so you can still play. Joysticks are available at second stores and primary retailers are everywhere from $5-$100 depending on your price range.
Q: Mechwarrior 3 was better!
A: No.
Q: I have a fairly specific question not addressed by this FAQ, can you give me some answers?
A: Of course! Just join the "Mechwarrior4" ingame channel and ask away.

Sure, count me in, im still a mass fan of the Old PC Mechwarrior games, Ill see you all on the Battlefield with a Lance of my own! :)

This is what I like to hear! So far the channel is bumping and it looks like we already have enough players for at least three lances. I doubt we will be doing any "matches" soon so just random 2v2/3v3 ATM and once everyone finds their place and is all warmed up we can start doing the more advanced league matches.

It is not really going to be "hardcore" LordSwift, it will only be as competitive as the players want it to be. I just used the word "league" for lack of a better term to describe a group of players who join together to engage in a mutual interest.

I gave up on mw4 since i can't turn off mouse smoothing. It's insanely ridiculous. Love the game to bits otherwise.

I seem to be stuck at this place called 'college'.. Having a joystick in my dorm would be detrimental to what little social life I have 
Never actually did much mechwarrioring, although i did pick up the free version when I had a chance.

Also it should be noted that I am on a laptop, which also means my numpad isnt exactly 'real'.. >.<

To play it even half decently you really need a flight yoke style joystick. Although using an Xbox360 controller kinda works well

I am getting owned repeatedly by my mate who is using a mouse, the mouse works pretty good just make sure you do your keyboard assignments so you know where your buttons do.

Well all the information is in the ingame channel MOTD so next time you log on hop on there and get it going. Once you are patched we have a dedicated server and everything already set up.

My mechwarrior 4 disk is in two peices and i really want to play!

I believe that when you purchase a game you are buying a license to play the game (that license has no time limit). So just because your physical media is destroyed does not make your license any less valid (although harder to prove that you are a legitimate license holder because the disc is the only token of that license you possess besides maybe a store receipt or credit card bill)
Also they said they were going to put the game out for free at some point they are just taking forever doing it so yeah at this point I would go ahead and download it and not worry at all.

I love mechwarrior 4 mercs but i hated the multiplayer. people would just jumpjet a tiny bit over a hill, hit you with 8x ppc and drop down before you can see them at all. It's ****ing bull****.
