IMO they were bad enough with 2 missile launchers, but the new dev blog makes it sound like they'll have 4 after the update. Gallente ships don't need missiles, it's too ungallente. I really hope CCP will reconsider this change. Gallente ships need more missiles like caldari ships need more blasters or artys. It's only a few hundred thousand ISK to get caldari frigates, from there people can specialize in missiles if they want to.
If you want to tweak the tristan, it can stay 2 guns and 2 missiles and be a sniper/light missile ship or blasters n rockets. I'd suggest making it a 4 gun frigate or blasters and smart bombs for something different.
All I hear is goons this and goons that, it's like you people are the villiagers from goons village. |

I'm not unhappy with the Tristan getting a missile slant. It does mean, however, more things I have to train. You're right - missiles are more of a Caldari thing. But I think it nice to have a little overlap between the races for the kinds of weapons you would choose to fit. Otherwise why even provide the option; Caldari only use missiles, Galante only use blasters, Amarr only use beams, etc... That would be boring. |

Caldari ships DO need more Blasters. This is why the new Merlin was so well received by Caldari Pilots. So this point contradicts the point you are trying to Raise.

What's even easier to train for than Caldari Frigate is rockets and/or light missiles by themselves. |

Still, if gallente are getting a missile ship, why aren't they getting a laser ship and a gun ship, and why aren't the caldari for that matter? Why don't the minmatar get laser and blaster ships? Why don't the amarr get gun and blaster ships? Why don't the caldari or minmatar get drone ships?
I kinda feel like the gallente got singled out on this one.

Amarr have lasers and missiles
Minmatar have projectiles and missiles
Caldari have hybrids and missiles
Gallente have hybrids
Note how there is currently no and missiles for Gallente? Gallente are being singled out for finally being brought into line with the other three races in having a main weapon system and missiles. Drones don't count because all the races can use drones.
EDIT: For the record, I'm still not entirely happy with the merlin losing its two launcher hardpoints either. Adapt or Die. |

The thing is, gallente have drones instead of missiles. Our training queues tend to focus on hybrids and drones. For the other races, they might put enough into drones to field a full flight once they get into bigger ships, their races don't specialize in them as much as ours do. No one chooses gallente thinking: imma gonna fire missiles.
Look at some of our best ships:
Vexor
Ishtar
Myrmidon
Dominix
They are all drone ships.

Every race has odd ships that get bonuses to missiles. Both the Eris & Lachesis get bonuses to missiles systems.
Making Missiles more "integrated" into all races is not necessarily a bad thing.
BTW, All races have drones too....

Um, Amarr? Beams, dedicated missile boats and dedicated drone boats.
Also did you miss the launcher hardpoints on Gallente battleships?
Your complaint makes no sense. Gallente is being given more options to bring it up to par with other races. How is that bad? If you don't like it, don't fly it. Stick to hybrid boats. |
