Im fitting a Myrmadon for a WH, so in essense a PVE ship.
Myrms are good for armor tanking but also can do shield tanks.
With armor tanking, which is better for a myrm, tanking or buffering?
And would you mix the armor with a shield tank?

There is this Battlecruiser bonuses. One of them states 7.5% increase to armor repair amount per level
Hmmm what could that mean? There are brave ones. And then there are those whom the brave ones will follow. |

It means the myrm is better off with a shield tank - from a tanking perspective. However, it will cost you in slots, slots you'd probably want for other things such as codebreakers and analyzers. And of course damage upgrades.
Plating it can work, but you will need some form of repair, in the end wether this is done through a pos or gangmates.
Don't mix. While it can work for very narrow situations it's one of those if you know what you're doing awesome - if you don't misserable failure. Parrots, commence!

I like my myrms passively shieldtanked.
The bonus just shows much crap active tanking is compared to the OP passive shieldtank.

passive shield tanked myrm vastly outperforms an armour tanked one, the only problem is that you need to use all your mid and low slots for it but if you do, you'll out tank a Drake. NEVER mix armour and shield tanking, unless you're some kind of uber EHP bait ship (possibly).

Yup, the shield HP and resist advantage of a Drake are no match for the overpowerdness of SPR's, and as a Myrm has a ton of low slots...

Drake: 4 SPR II, 4x LSE II, 2x Invuln II, 3x Purger I (19961 / 179.4 * 2.5 = 278 shield per second(peak)) Average resistance: 71.875%
Myrmid: 6x SPR II, 3x LSE II, 2x Invuln II, 3x Purger I (14726/103.6 * 2.5 = 355 shield per second(peak)) Average resistance: 62.5%
278/(100-71.875) = 9.88444... kdps tanked
355/(100-62.5) = 9.4666... kdps tanked
I don't see it. Parrots, commence!

Me too... I quickly EFT drake and myrmidon on All Level V and Myrmidon is a bit less then Drake... But I am not sure about DPS dealing... Myrmidon can spit out about 510DPS with such fit, what can Drake? There are brave ones. And then there are those whom the brave ones will follow. |

Correct, if you put a drake on full tank it JUST outperforms a shield Myrm but then it doesn't do any sort of damage. In a fit which you'd actually use a myrm doesn't need it's low slots for damagemods so even if you add 1 BCU the drake already loses in tanking. Due to PG issues it'll have to drop an LSE for something else dropping it's tank even more.
