Hi lads.
Not done much pvp, but am looking to get into it.
Basically, do the skills i have to fully T2 fit a navy raven help me at all in pvp, or am i missing a large chunk of skills for PVP?
What do i absolubtely need to train for PVP in order to have a fighting chance?
Cheers Lads.

PVP skill is not an in game stat you can train.
It is the ability to keep you head on straight during the fight and make you ship work at it's fullest potential while hoping your opponent makes the first mistake.
The biggest difference between PVE and PVP is ship setup.

You do not to be in a navy Raven to PvP, start cheap in a Rifter or a maybe a cruiser because I can assure you that as soon as you start looking for a fight in a CNR or equally expensive ship you will be ganked. Hope your bill fold is fat in that case.
join a corp that roams and start from there, often times cheap ships (Cruisers and below) are sold cheaper or free to members that participate in the action, and every small fleet needs a tackle boat or two.
Also, a corp that operates like this will help you the most on what skills you need first depending on the role you will be playing in the fleet.
Good luck.

yes many pve skills will help in pvp. T2 fits are good for pvp. and as said try with small ships like cruisers first.

For PvP you really don't have to go the way of big and expensive. Sticking to frigates and cruisers provides you with a huge number of ships and roles you can fill.

Most of your PVE skills will translate over, there are a few skills that you find more in PVP than PVE:
High Speed Maneuvering: You'll want to fit an MWD to your ship 99% of the time, particularly if you want to go into 0.0.
Propulsion Jamming: Once you get a target you want it to stay there. Warp Disruptors and Webs.
Electronic Warfare: Useful on specialized ships, like the Blackbird.
Leadership & supports: Nice boost for gangs.
I'd say that High Speed Maneuvering is the only CRITICAL MUST HAVE of those, with Propulsion Jamming coming in second, depending on what role you want to play. Having an alt with Isk-Printing Level 5 doesn't hurt either

I wouldnt fit a MWD nowadays for PvP as they are shut off by scrammers. AB is a better option here. Your race will depend on certain skills and the ships you want to fly.
I do agree w/ starting w/ frigs to start your PvP career. You will lose ships and alot so start w/ afforadable ship.
The first rule of PvP is, dont fly what you cant afford to lose.

Edited by: Millie Clode on 29/11/2009 09:05:22 Things you will need in PvP that you wont need in PvE (all situation dependant, obviously):
Microwarpdrive (High Speed Maneuvering skill) Energy neutralizers / Nosferatus (Energy Emission Systems skill) Warp Scramblers/Disruptors and Webs (Propulsion Jamming skill) Various types of EWAR (Electronic warfare, Target Painting, Turret Destabilization, Sensor Linking are the four base skills, then there's a raft of support skills to make them better).
Also in large fleets, if you bring a battleship you should more often than not bring some form of RR with you, so training Remote Armor Repair is a good idea.
Beyond that, fitting skills, navigation skills and targeting skills, which all cross over into PvE, but being able to outmaneuver an opponent or lock them faster than they can lock you will save your ship on countless occasions
