I'm looking to get more skilled in PVP and I was wondering if anyone knew of a good class/school? I remember Agony Unleashed used to be active with this but I can't find much on the forums. Any recommendations? Thx

Red vs Blue should be good, but only heard about it.

Or find a player corp that PVP's and accepts new players.

RvB is most likely your best bet. Nothing beats just going out and doing it yourself! Remember to fly and fit cheap for a start... Join RvB!

Edited by: DaDutchDude on 21/11/2009 01:58:58 Edited by: DaDutchDude on 21/11/2009 01:57:01 Hey Kyle, I can confirm Agony Unleashed is still the premier provider of public PVP training in EVE Online.
One big advantage over other options (beside the proven quality of our courses) is the public nature: there is no need to become a member of Agony Unleashed to take any of our courses. We will give you reading materials to prepare for the classes, and the classes consist of a theoretical part, taught by knowledgeable instructors, and some practical exercises. After the class is done, we take students into 0.0 for a roam with an experienced Agony FC and support pilots. All this for a modest fee.
Don't take my word for it though. Read the feedback threads in our enrollment forum to make up your own mind. In this forum, you can also find AU PVP University Q & A's and ways to enroll for our classes. Be aware however that demand often is bigger then the places available in classes, so make sure you are online when a class opens for enrollment. If you still have questions, go to the "au_pvp_university" channel in-game and you'll usually find some Agony member able to answer your questions.
However, you don't get good by just taking a class. The class just lays the foundation of knowledge, but it's just the start. Actual PVP quality comes from experience (the more you fight, the faster you'll start to think and act, the better your choices will become), hard work (like making tons of bookmarks and scouting out your hunting grounds) and the willingness to take a risk (you can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs).
There are several good ways to get that experience. Red vs Blue is one, Factional Warfare is another. Both provide relatively easy access to PVP. Other options are joining a pirate or 0.0 corp / alliance. You can also go at it alone, but I'd strongly advice you to try to find yourself a PVP corp with regular operations in your time zone, because your learning curve will be much better that way.
Whatever you choose, good luck, and fly dangerously. _____________________________________

practice is important but just getting in a fight wont teach you to win a fight any more than stepping into a boxing ring teaches you to box or swinging a sword teaches you to fence. pvping without a knowledge of the tactics you are trying to employ will just pad someone else's killboard

There is no substitute for experience and it is important to realize that their are in fact several very different forms of pvp in this game. Null sec warfare maybe the biggest of them but it's also one of the most simplistic forms. You have an FC, he tells you what to fly and how to fit it then tells you exactly what to do and when. You're practically a warrior II to him . Doing this you will learn next to nothing about ship capabilities or small gang pvp and so you will never be qualified to FC if you go this route. You can however get your feet wet and get used to losing 100M isk in 0.5 seconds. For this type of pvp I recommend Eve University. They hold regular pvp ops where they pick a random nearby low sec system and try to gank a few people in 25 vs 1 fights. Can't comment on agony unleashed but from the above posters I assume it's similar.
There is also high sec warfare and this is a good place to get started. It's typically small gang or solo and so you learn what different ships can and can't do effectively. Many of the pilots in high sec are of low quality so you won't become a master here but you can still learn a lot. Many high sec pirates will accept noobies and train them up so getting into one should be easy. Also, because of the limited nature of combat in high sec and the lack of capital ships, it's very forgiving and can be called off at almost any point.
Low sec is one of the nastier places to learn, you will learn a lot and learn it fast. As in high sec small gangs and solo rule the day but unlike high sec there are capital ships, sentry guns and no one is "neutral." Some low sec corps will recruit noobies into their ranks however most pirate corps will not. That said nearly all of the industrial and pve low sec corps have extensive pvp capabilities as a necessity. They can train you and by fighting pirates and rival corps, you will learn a lot though a bit slower than if you went with a pure pvp corp.
W-space is a cross between low and null sec. You get all the null sec toys but in an environment closer to low sec thanks to restrictions on gang size and mobility. Capitals can be present but generally aren't. It also lacks local as an intel tool allowing for total surprise of active pilots. Due to traffic restrictions and population density; actually finding a target out there can be a very long process unfortunately. W-space corps rely on secrecy and so getting into one as a noob is very unlikely.
I haven't really recommended any corps here. You should have atleast a few buddies in game and you should talk to them. Perhaps they can recommend a corp since they too should have a few buddies. If all else fails you can always convo someone in veto or privateers, both are very large high sec alliances that accept newer players. -----------------------------------------------------

You could also check out The Black Rabbits Academy training pilots looking to make their living out as pirate. Will teach you all from the basics and up to bigger fleet fights.
