Ok let's get this straight: 1. I'm no english teacher. 2. I'm not saying my english is perfect either
...but please people, make an effort when posting.
It is getting to the point where I have difficulty understanding what some of you write, since you mutilate and deform the english language. God, when I recall some of Siddy's posts I get this terrible headache and I have to lie down for a minute; Siddy's not the only one though...
Therefore I wanted to know if CCP could implement some kind of spellcheck tool in the forum posting?
What do you guys think?
(I'm no English or American grammar crusader by the way. I'm actually francophone!)

Meh. Spelling errors just show we're diverse in our origins etc, the whole point of coming together over the internet.

Wrong! In fact most people who got their posts loaded with errors are native to the english language! I'm not!

Yeah, diversity through ineptitude and laziness. Woo.
I agree a spell checker would be useful, but it'd have to be just a single button that automatically corrects all your misspelled words, not something that merely highlights the words like Word's spell checker does. Otherwise, most people won't bother with it.
And, on a related topic, a pet peeve of mine is seeing grammar / spelling errors in Eve movies...This is really awful in films like Leafo's where everything is just top notch, wonderful audio, impressive sights, and then some crass typo pops up spoiling the whole thing...

Well those people don't need an automatic spelling aid, what they need is a school

^^ there was a study done on the way you spelled that...
as long as all the letters in a word were there and the first and last letter were as they were supposed to be, like 99% of people could easily read it.

I agree, people who do not natively speak a language usually put more effort into getting the langauge correct than those who use a language as their primary. The only person I've ever had problems understanding is Zelota on this forum, by some forums standards the English is of very high calibre, the only big problem is grammar where people forget to use any kind of punctuation and forget that there are such things as paragraphs. Sadly that cannot be corrected by a spell checker so its all in vain really.

I'll have a multilatte to go.
Yes it can be rather tiresome but then again do as I do and just stop reading what the ramblers write.

I challenge Vardofire to write everything he posted again, only this time do it in Dutch.
I am equally appalled by some peoples' spelling and grammatical mistakes, but I choose not to make a point of it on a forum for a game with an international community.
L33t 5p34k, however, does royally cheese me off and people who use it should be hung!!!!111one11one!!eleven.

Heh, fact is, Vardofire isn't Dutch (methinks). The main point is that most people are too lazy to type correctly, they can, but don't. AFAIK most people with horrible spelling tend to be native English speakers.
Usually it's easy to tell who is native English speaker and who isn't. The one who isn't a native speaker and still spells badly usually writes something along the lines of 'Sorry, my English isn't that good.' or 'Excuse for the lack of correct spelling/grammar, I'm not a native English speaker.'
That's why you posting that Vard should try posting in some other language he can't possibly know is somewhat missing the point.
I agree that people should spend more time on what they're writing in the forums. They've got time for that afterall. Noone asked them to extensively spellcheck what they're writing in a chatroom.
ad spelling in videos kinda is a bummer, too.
And... if anyone is interested, I'm a sixteen year old German.
