There was a fight and ~200 caps were lost. Can the market handle it?

Yes, but the spike in pyerite prices might just influence cap prices if it holds out.

We need at least 1-2 more fights of similar size in a short period before I'd consider the market "shocked".

The mineral market is already surging thanks to insurance fraud.
Cap fights before the price of minerals goes over insurance will just accelerate the rise, only after that will they cause non-inevitable increases in the basket. I would be unsurprised if a lot of people shut down operations when prices collapsed: I sure as heck bought and sold a ton of researched bpos at low prices on both ends, and thats not a good sign,
Of course, whether the CAPITAL market will handle it is another question

Pye is already falling back from the recent peak of 5.6 or so. I expect people will be switching from Veldspar over to Scordite if it remains more profitable to mine. --- 34.4:1 mineral compression ISRC Racing, Season 7 - schedule |

Yes, the market will be fine. I would think that after Dominion comes out, renewed hostilities would make a nice bump in cap prices, at least until cheap minerals from those nicely upgraded systems flood the market.

1) Read about "trading the news", expansions have the same effect.
2) Be on the first Elliot Wave of the cycle past Dominion. Those who did (ie buying VERY low cost stuff and BPOs now) will enjoy the ride up and profit. - Auditing and consulting
