I'm an FC, and that means sacking up and learning something when you lose. So here's the report, from Caldari Militia:
1930-2030 CTA form up time
Heavy on shield BS's and BC's, about 70 strong we went out to pick a fight. Not much happens initially, except a few straggler kills while we get some attention in Black Rise.
Many people log after hitting highsec as one of the FC's says he can't get a fleet up to fight what we had.
2200 we get sight of Nibbletek coming out to Vlillrier/Oicx area. WOLFY are with them. Expecting a hotdrop, we prepare triage carriers of our own. We did not have any dreads available for this op, after a good portion of people logged. Nibbletk fleet was about 15-20 RR BS, with carrier cyno on standby.
We still had about 50 ish, with a little over a dozen BS's and a lot of BC's and CS with the right bonuses, so we went for it.
2230, fight breaks out. Both sides cyno in multiple carriers. Two for them, 3 for us. 2 triaged on each side. The reps on both side are fantastic, with ships only being lost to quick lulls. It quickly turns into a stalemate, while our ammo is beginning to run out.
15 minutes later, most of our DPS is still intact, and we call for reinforcements, but we were a long way from home, for many. We called for any additional backup, however they weren't getting x'd up properly, so focus fire was reduced.
20 minutes later most of us are out of ammo, but neither side is breaking. Meanwhile during these fights, Invicta (fresh to FW-ville after a long pirate/wardec campaign) cyno in additional carriers.
Meanwhile, everyone and their great step-aunt's sister's monkey's uncle is telling thier buddies about TRIAGED CARRIERS IN VLIL, BIG FIGHT and multiple small/large pirate gangs from Kadeshi, VOODOO, WYLB, etc are coming in to pick off what they can. They can't pick off much, as most gangs didn't have the DPS to break the triaged carrier reps of either side.
VETO corp did, however. As we continued to lock horns, they had a very heavy RR BS gang motor across Black-Rise. Neither side in our engagement could afford to break off, as neither side could jump in time before geting neuted/pointed. We decided to kill whatever we could and go down fighting. I wasn't abandoning our carriers so early in the fight.
VETO finally arrives, and begins to primary Nibbletek and WOLFY's battleships, which is the extra oomph we needed. Carriers from Nibbletek finish whatever # triage cycle they were on, and manage to warp out while our BS's became primaried. During which time we knew we were lost, so we made them pay for the kills. We pop several expensive HICS towards the engagement, and finally call it quite when Wahrlborg's carrer goes down. Four minutes later, Raul's carrier goes down.
Troy Deepwater's chimera escapes, as it wasn't in triage.
Total losses for our cap fleet were two carriers lost. Nibbletek's carriers escaped, much to my dissapointment, as I'd have hoped VETO could tackle them before they warped. It's as much my fault as it is thiers they got away, though.
At the time of this post, all killboards are so wierded-out because VETO is all over both sides that it's kinda difficult to see exactly how we did. If someone wants to do the math for it, be my guest. We lost a lot, but we killed a lot.
And it was a very very entertaining battle. Lasted about half an hour.
Our capital fund can easily recoup the losses today. We are by no means in a hole at this time. Our cap pilots are taken care of. Taken care of by our fellow militia members' donations and contributions. Before you start touching yourself in funny places over the loss, remember the sheer # of capitals that have died with our help, or by our hands exclusively. To underestimate us over a pair of carriers lost is a pretty grave mistake. I was extremely proud how long we held out, until VETO cleared the field of everybody.
Highest local coount was somewhere around 180.

Nice unbiased report.. LOL
People have been dropping caps (triaged carriers in FW for the past month and it was getting rather a pain in the arse). Its bad enough both side flying 100+ fleets around but then proceeding to hot drop carriers was turning FW in to Capitals Online. But both sides are doing it, I'm hoping this crap about replacements is just your normal propaganda rubbish. And you might like to go back to slugging it out, as we have the phone number of every pirate fleet in the area to come running if you drop more carriers, and I hope you guys do the same.
And the Caldari CTA every other night so you only leave in blobs is also pretty much a waste of time. The "didn't want those carriers any way line" is old hat. The FW cycle is back on the Caldari side, they are leaving Nourv 40+ and not getting fights (or not engaging WOLFY) which is boring as hell for both sides. So lay off the last fail call of a dieing alliance the CTA and just go back to roams?
Every time we see a CTA we know you have your cyno's with you, so again stop this "oh we then went and got a cyno ship", that vulture is with you ALL THE TIME! and putting an alt into our home system to watch we don't undock our dreads is also a BIG hint of what you up to.
So we knew what was coming. What we didn't know was it was going to be a threesome.
Scores on the doors.
WOLFY - Lost 2 BS NibbleTek - Lost 9 BS Invicta - Lost 1 BS Caldari - Lost 2 Carriers, 12 BS, 14 BC, 1 HIC, 2 Recons and a Command Ship. Veto - Lost 4 HICs, 2 BC, 2 Recons.
(I'm not going to count the sub BC level ships)
Yeah your right.. That was CLOSE OMFGROFLMFAO.... /o\
How about replacing the BS of the people who actually follow you rather than for a CORP with 100+ members and a rather large tax rate, I know if I were caldari I wouldn't be happy funding a private corp I'm not a member of, who farm missions all day (so do we but we don't ask for isk replacement from the militia).
Well that clears it up. YOU GOT OWNED! but yeah you keep clutching to the it was a close draw! /o\

It was one of the most enjoyable fights I can remember in a very long time.
Props to everyone on all sides, with special mention to the fantastic RR received by many on both sides.

To synns: It's not that I don't like overblobbing. I just like LARGE fights. Big ones. Lots on each side. I came to the game lured by the Empyrean Age login screen kinda advertising, and while you don't get as many #'s of fights, you get enough big fights in militia to make it worth it. It's the biggest adrenaline rush I could ask for in this game, and that's enough for me.
I'm reaching into new territory here, and I accept the carrier losses. I could have saved them. In retrospect, there's a ton of things I could have done better. What's more is you'll get to see my mistakes first-hand as this whole engagement got frapsed by multiple people. But you don't need fraps to see how fail I am, do ya now?
Thanks for the intel from your smack, btw :D

I can understand why you bring these fleet out with carriers and all.
But as you said you lack of dps and main reason is that people fit mostly tank with t2 parts but their weapons are t1 crap.
You should get your fleet members to shape that are worth to rep with carriers...

How much ammo are you bringing with you to "run out"? Running out of cap boosters is moderately acceptable - but ammo? come on

According to what I could gather from killboards, numbers from the START of the fight were:
NBBL/INVT/WOLFY: 15 BS, 3 interceptors, 2 triage carriers
Caldari Militia: 20BS, 27 BC-sized hulls (I included CS in here), 9 frigate sized hulls, 3 triage carriers
This is taken from Caldari Militia kb.
So sorry, Gavin, but your initial battlereport is a little skewed -- you engaged 15 BS with 20 BS, 2 carriers with 3, 0 BCs with 27 BCs, and 3 frigate-hulls with 9 frigate hulls.

Lil' bit skewed., but over a 30 minute fight we had people join the fleet in the middle of the fight, that didn't get x'd, so they were there, but not part of the initial fleet.
VETO is all over both sides of the battle summary for that fight, haha \o |

Edited by: Death Toll007 on 19/02/2010 03:53:35 I was in the Kadeshi at the time, and for the record, they are not a pirate alliance. More an opportunist, and omg what an opportunity this day was. We were doing our usual 0.0 thing, when someone said our home system exploded with neuts, whom all went hostile at once = major battle.
We did not participate on a large scale, we were just there for the scraps. Some poor souls made it out of firefights, only to land at a planetary orbit to recover, reassess, and return... at least until they saw ships laying in wait.
There were actually skirmishes at the moons between the intruding corps and alliances who wanted to stake claim for those kills.
In short the entire thing was absolutely epic. Consider it, an entire system ablaze... And not from your usual power blocs, but from two forces colliding, and everyone who wanted a piece of the action. Followed by an additional looming threat coming to the field and clearly establishing dominance. It was just like the dominion trailer, minus the titans.
It was everything I always thought eve combat would be... pulse racing action at every single warp in point. Target rich environments in every corner of the system. The best part... nothing, absolutely nothing was around a POS. It was in a word.... Bliss.
I salute every pilot on the field that day, it was a trully memorable moment in eve, and to the FC in the OP. Your final report was very objective, and unbiased. I salute you an additional time.
