Doesn't matter. By that time my XP machine will only be useful for playing old singleplayer games and writing papers, but I'll still propably use it more than any new machine. Neither activity is affected by anything microsoft decides to do, since all the programs needed are already available and working perfectly.

It burns my anti-establishment soul to admit it but if you are running xp you need to get win7 asap. Its just that good even on 'old' hardware.
