Remember multiple days downtime when they had those server related issues (first you saw a crapload of traffic warnings and then the servers imploded) But then again I cant really approve of any of this because this is my signature |

Whilst the actual downtime was not too long on that particular expansion the next THREE months of constant daily node crashes, desyncs, soul killing lag and about 30 other crappy things I don't want to relive was total eve hell and a time both the players and moast especially the devs would like to forget.

Lets hope they at least allow us to download the update before the servers come up like they did with Apoc. Nothing like waiting all day to log on only to have to download 2 gigs of updates.

Dragon Code was installed with the RMR patch. The RMR content was good but the Dragon server code was OMGHORRIBOBBLE!!!11111 and much like the dragon fleet in the dominion vid it burned us all.

I really hope they are overestimating, usually they get a bit optimistic about it,and fail the timescale.
If they said it would take a week, and managed it, then that would be fine.
I really, really hope they have gone for the longest time it will take , rather the shortest.
Otherwise it just makes them look like *****s. Again ------------- 'Don't try to learn Eve all at once, otherwise your brain will explode' - Albert Einstein ------------ |

I don't have a single skill that small an ammount of time I could train!
As long as everything is working ok at the end of the week, I will not mind this schedule in the least.

Dragon patch = RMR
You young-lings have no idea how good you have it. With you 30 minute downtimes, stackless IO and reinforced nodes.
When I was your age we had regular 1 hour+ downtimes, lag in 50 man fleet fights and were forced to have said lagged out battles on SiSi hardware.

Edited by: Estel Arador on 26/11/2009 23:36:15 Well it's shorter than the 24 hours they got used to taking for expansions.
Of course their planned end time isn't necessarily the actual end time. What's the record for pushing back the downtime end of one expansion? 4 times for a total of 6-8 hours?

19 hours is a 'ccp estimate'
I put the over/under on downtime for the patch at 24 hours...Someone should make a book on stuff like this, I would bet on it.

I usually don't even log on for two or three days after a major expansion. Gives the bugs a chance to crawl out of the code.
