I am looking for a new internal hard drive and new mouse, I have been eyeing the Razer naga but i dont know the extent of functionality of the buttons and also the G9. from what I heard the g9 seems to be the better choice for me.
Ps. i will be buying this somewhere in NYC and so far walmart prices have seemed to be the best bet. Any advice/recommendations? Make the Beership a reality! |

It would be helpful if you mentioned what you are after particularly. In the case of the hard drive, do you want:
- Performance? (or 300GB version) - Extreme performance? - Affordability? - Massive storage?
If you just need a little extra space and don't need a bleeding edge HDD, go with the 'affordable' one. Regarding the mouse, again, what is it for? Gaming presumably, if you're looking at Razer products. The Naga's extra keys are for storing macros or keybinds, as suggested, most useful in MMOs where you have lots of functions and shortcuts.
If you want that extra functionality, there's not a great many products that will meet that need. If you don't, look at one of their other gaming mice like the Lachesis. it has adjustable sensitivity, is ambidextrous, a handful of extra programmable buttons and will be very accurate. The Diamondback is also a good choice. -------------

Edited by: Neyro7830 on 30/11/2009 12:46:33 any WD Caviar Black with a 32mb cache or a Seagate 'Cuda with 32mb Cache. TBH Raptors are overpriced for the small boost in performance, when you get to spending that much you are better off getting a SSD on the cheap and putting your OS/Games on it and getting a storage drive for other programs/non-speed critical stuff.
As far as mice goes I'd be afraid of hitting all of the buttons on the naga. All of my sooper1337 fps broheims rave over the g9. I'm a bit of a razer fanboy though and I think the naga would be sweet. Personally looking at the Microsoft sidewinder series, they look like a mix between a g9 and a decent razer.
www.Newegg.com of course if you are in the US. Most of the stuff ships from jersey so you'll be cool for fast shipping.

Don't think newegg has any brick and mortar stores (they may have one in cali, not sure). But those both looks great. I'm a bit of a seagate fanboy, but after their firmware crap from the earlier gen HDDs I can see how some would be cautious around them. As far as benchmarks go that is a relatively fast HDD.
I think the last time I checked a WD Black 640 Gb was a hair faster than a Seagate 'cuda 640gb.
As far as the mouse goes I think after you take the hardware into consideration it just comes down to personal preference, some people hold the mouse or have different sized hands, so some mice are more natural/uncomfortable to hold. My hands are on the smaller side of things so the g9 should fit perfectly. The Naga was really tempting but Im not sure if its worth the risk of taking the Naga only to find out that what I want to do with it isnt possible. Make the Beership a reality! |

The razer naga is joke don't buy it.
Its a stupid gimick and you would be much better off with a more normal mouse.

Don't bother with a velociraptor. Their performance isn't much greater than a standard hard drive. If you really want a high performance drive for OS or games, a Solid State Drive is the way to go. I'm using a Crucial M225 128GB which I picked up for ú200 a few months ago. A bit steep for 128GB you might say, but it goes like **** off a shovel.
But if you only need it for mass storage of music, videos, etc, and aren't going to run your operating system and game off it, then a bog-standard HDD with lots of capacity is your best bet. ____________________
