Ok let me set the scene for you:
One of my corp members leaves his buble in ec-p8r (as another member was supposed to take it when done). So some people are attacking and me and another corp member (Mjau) clear them away from the bubble. At this time the corp member just happens to logon, so we ask he retrieve the bubble. He comes over, and screws up accidently anchoring. So now we are stuck here for 10mins until he can unanchor it and pick it up.
5 minutes later, a megathron jumps in by the name of Spaceball 1. He is outside the bubble and all we have is a rifter, a maller, and a thorax. However, we attack anyway.
Right as well clear through his shield (which was pretty fast thanks to some heavy drones) the stupidity comes out. The pilot of the ship, EJECTS after selecting self destruct. Seeing this myself and the other crusier pilot eject to save the mega while our rifter pilot goes after the guys pod.
My other corp mate Darian, gets the ship and stops the self destruct and warps to a safe spot. So now we have a free megathron, which by the way had 7 warp core stabs to counter our -3 scramble. Sadly no good loot, but hey I'll take it. Now the only thing i can figure besides the guy being a noob and not knowing what he should do, was that he had some mighty expensive implants that he just wasnt going to risk, HOWEVER:

Not quite as good as LordZap (I think) ejecting from his 'thron while in motion and having to chase it across a system, but pretty close.

If he was trying to give us his ship he wouldn't have activated self-destruct. He was probably trying to save his implants.
The best part of all this was nothing was preventing him from warping out with 7 stabs on. I really wish I had been there to see this. I would have **** myself laughing.

Maybe its something about Megathron pilots???

nah i seen the same thing happen once only it was a raven not a megathron

nah i seen the same thing happen once only it was a raven not a megathron
