I know the Dominion patch isn't out yet. But my question is this. I've got 3 clients to patch and I don't want to be downloading the same file for each. I know once the patching process is completed it gives you an option to delete the download?! (Am I right there?) my question is this. Where is that file saved? so I can just install it on my other clients?!
Thanks

Erm cant you just delete the other 2 clients and copy - paste new folders?
Also if your 3 clients use the same settings just launch all 3 from the same exe.

Start the first client, let it autopatch, remember to not delete the downloaded data.
Start the second client, let it autopatch - it will only download 1.5 MB but then reuse the data from the first patcher, remember to not delete the downloaded data.
Start the third client, let it autopatch - it will only download 1.5 MB but then reuse the data from the first patcher, finally delete the downloaded data.

Somewhere I haven't looked for the exact instructions but.
They go something like this; (maybe CCP will confirm.)
On the first patch you will download a small patch (a few KB's) then the large main patch (LARGE). When it is done PATCHING it will ask you to clear the temporary files, answer no or remove that option "check box - uncheck"
Then start your other clients one @ a time and patch them. For each one you will download the small patch but it will pull the large patch from the cache. Just continue to make sure you don't delete your temporary files till all the clients are updated.
Hope this helps

Somewhat off-topic, but is this still the recommended method (a separate, full install for each client) for running multiple clients on one machine? I seem to recall reading somewhere that due to the new (err, several years old now I guess) location that EVE stores its data, making symbolic links was more recommended?

Ok, heres my question. Is there a way to download the client from my work internet (DSL 16) and then burn it to a dvd and install it on my game machine at home? my home conetion took 16 hours last patch. (DSL 1)

Download the offline patch, burn it on dvd, reinstall at home from the dvd If you want to be safe, burn the whole client installer ^^

Edited by: Aya Sin on 01/12/2009 15:01:38 Edited by: Aya Sin on 01/12/2009 14:58:07 For those running EVE on an NTFS filesystem there is the option of using a directory junction instead of multiple copies.
Assuming EVE is in C:\Program Files\EVE you can run cmd from the startmenu and type...
C: cd "\Programm Files" mklink /D EVE-somename EVE mklink /D EVE-someothername EVE mklink /D EVE-yetanothername EVE
... to create multiple hardlinks (aka "directoy junctions" in windows) to this one folder. Patching any one folder will update all of them, but you still keep the benefit of having your settings stored in different locations, because those are stored in a folder relative to your user directory (with a name constructed from the eve folder- or junctionname) and not within the eve folder(s).
edit: Just don't use a junction as a testclient. Obvious, but maybe still worth mentioning.

I've been running two clients dual boxing from the same EXE for months and months with no problems. _____________________

I have been too, but I have two separate installs and still use the /end /LUA:OFF tags (which, admittedly, don't seem to be doing anything anymore). But it doesn't mean there isn't a more efficient way for me to go about it

What I meant was is: I have just one install and one shortcut. _____________________

Same, and I use it with 4 clients simultaneously. __________________________________________
