I've heard people talking about insta-popping frigates with destroyers. Would I be better served with a sensor booster than a point? The goal is to use the ship solo (or in small gangs) while flying for the Amarr militia. I realize the ship is toast if a cruiser or bigger ship so much as sneezes at it.

Even another destroyer might kill you 1on1 if they have actually fitted a tank. I wouldn't go solo in this one.

destroyer are frigattekiller and not a cruiserkiller faster than cruiser, more hp than normal t1 frigatte,
you can fit destroyers (catalyst gallente) 2 ways: close combat hunting with lots of armor or anti-interceptor sniper in gang.
t2 version are for bubbeling... but also nice in direct frigatte combat.
speed is for destroyer very improtant. use mwd or you are a free kill for cruisers.
coercer try gang fit: http://eve.battleclinic.com/loadout/30040-Coercer-FULL-T2-SMALL-GANG-PVP-300-DPS.html
or armor fitted: http://eve.battleclinic.com/loadout/25850-Stupid-but-funny-pvp-coercer.html
most people laughs about destroyers... don't worry: learn fly and t2 frigates will die and cruisers & higher? stands still in the interdictor bubble of dooooooom

This is how I'd fit one, you really do need an MWD if only to get away from the bigger ships that could kill you if they looked at you funny.
Not having a point can be an issue ofcourse but I rate the MWD higher, especially as anything frig-like will just melt if they hesitate for a short while before they GTFO. You already have good tracking but more tracking is always good, especially with scorch.

can't remember but about 1400. You won't escape everything but you will evade the obvious bricks in space.

This is best fit imo. Use with locus and/or metastasis rigs - i prefer locus so i get 1 more volley when target is charging from 20k. I tried 200rt and 400rt versions /with gatlings/, but it doesnt work very well. Plate/trimarks are only slowing you down so there is higher chance you will die somewhere on gate.
Just dont engage ab frigs/close range inties in scram range and you will be ok. Optimal distance for initiating fight is 20km for gank inties, around 14km for frigs - you have to give them "chance" to catch you or they will just warp away. Avoid jags, wolves and ishkurs.

Ok, I've been away for a while and come back to reading this everywhere. I'm sorry, but WTF is a 'point'??? Is that what they're calling warp disruptors these days? If so, where did that term come from? Didn't want to ask, but I'm forum-searched and googled out...
Thx,

Yup. A ship normally has one warp strength, if you add warp core stabs you add more warp strength and some ships (Transports) have 2 built in. If a ship is lower than 1 warp strength it can't warp so if I use 1 'point' of warp disruption it prevents warping unless the ship has more strength.
The long range disruptor (20-24km for normal versions) has 1 point, the scrambler (7.5-9km for normal versions) has 2 points. So if the target has one WCS using the 1 point won't stop him from warping (1 from the ship +1 from WCS =2, 2-1 is still 1) but when hit with scrambler his warp strength would then be 0 again, so he can't warp. Apart from that, the short range scrambler also immediately cancels the target's MWD, the long range disruptor does not.
So if someone says he has a point on his ship he probably means he's got a long range disruptor but understand that people mix up scrambler and disruptor the whole time :)
