Hey guys!
6,5m SP into my first char, I feel like making a wingman alt. My main is gallentean, and I want my alt to be another race to add some variation. Thought about Caldari, because missiles are damn cool, but other than that I got no clue. What race will be best for supporting a gallentean combat pilot? My Gallente char is trained mostly in blasters and drones. I fly mostly cruiser and BC sized ships.
Thanks :)

If you want the second char to support you, id suggest either amarr because their logistics repair armor or caldari because they have the best ew capabilities. If you want to have the most fun with the char on its own, choose minmatar because their fast and agile ships are a blast in pvp.

Amarr has the advantage of armor tanking, like your gallente main, so you can use them to remote rep eachother. Caldari has the advantage of having ECM

Minmatar and gallente are the best races still for pvp, i would also add caldari! How i come to that conclusion is the fact that said races have good ships in every class bar amarr which lacks good cruisers and bellow options imo.
SO MINMATAR AND OR GALLENTE!!!

No differences between the races, so benefit lies wherever you train. Same goes for ships; only advantage is a) fits and b) training. Anything else is just personal opinion.

Amarr cruisers were bad compared to most other races cruisers even before the patsch, with the rupture having been one of the best. With the latest boost to projectile guns, Minmatar are so vastly overpowered compared to anything else, training for them is a no-brainer.

Amarr cruisers are some of the best: Arbitrator, Sacrilege, Guardian, Curse, Pilgrim--some are even calling Amarr the new FOTM.

Here's how your decision making process should work in this case:
1) Conclude that caldari are a non-option atm.
2) Consider whether you would like to fly small ships, or large ships. 3a if the former, 3b if the latter.
3a) Go for Minmatar - Amarr are inferior before tier 2 BCs.
3b) Minmatar are a bit up in the air with regard to BSs atm and with ships like the harbinger and the Abaddon, Amarr aren't about to become irrelevant. Go Amarr, probably.

Go with whichever avatar looks the coolest in your opinion and cross train to whatever race happens to be FOTM right now. When they eventually nerf that race into the ground and make another one top tog, cross train to that one. Rinse and repeat until you have a well balanced PVP character.
Your starting race at this point, since the changes to character creation and attributes, only determines one thing: Your avatar. Make sure you have an avatar whose appearance you are happy with.
A good race to complement Gallente would be Minmatar, specifically for their recons. They add respectable supplemental DPS while making sure your blasterboats can't be kited. Or, if you're a drone lover, a good choice would be Amarr for the Curse. Excellent supplemental DPS and the ability to neut opponents' tanks to death makes up for the fact that drones deal respectable, but not spectacular DPS.
If the Gallente ship your main PVPs in is a reasonably fast blaster ship such as the Deimos that is agile, fast, and puts out a ton of DPS, then I would say go with Caldari for the Rook. But because that is the only ship they really have that would make a good team with your Gallente pilot, I would say don't do it.

If it's an alt in terms of just another character to play separately from your main, then no diff, do whatever. If it's dual boxing, then you want your alt in a recon.
Dual boxing effectively is all about conserving your attention span, because it's a limited resource. The thing is, there are times when you want to be able to forget about your alt and focus on your main, and cloaking gives you that, plus the ability to scout and probe reasonably well.
Arazu and falcon are king at this sort of thing (tackle/damp or jam and set keep at range). Arazu to lock someone down while you kill him on your main, or a falcon to squeeze out the most posible rage and tears in local afterwards.
Of the two, I think the arazu is the most versatile, because you have tackle, damps and drones, all of which work in a fire and forget kind of way.
