I imagine the next big thing will be a new playable race. A gate reopening, maybe not back to Earth necessarily might result in that.
Element 22 Gallente	Posted - 2009.12.02 01:08:00 - [3] I don't see the gate opening for earth, but I could see a ship from Earth warping here, sending out a message for peace and promptly being attacked causing it to create wormholes around each attacking ship before warping away again with the message it will return in another 1000 years to see if we are civilized by then. Each deadspace will have a 1/n chance to have a 7th level mission and all the ships who got warped away are in a self-connected cluster of systems. The players get the choice to either team up with enemies+friends+strangers and take on this level 7 mission or backstab each other. Signatures are annoying...kinda like me.

Eventually they will have to end it and what could be better then an all out war of Jove + 4 United Race's Alliance vs evil aliens from Earth. And yes I do believe Earth ppl will be evil. Basically no details at all. Just a Jove ship being in the area with some type of important mission. Granted it also hinted that there are still some old Terran wrecks around the gate. Veal, murder. Baby Carrots, healthy snack. Food hypocrisy at work.

EvE will only end when it ceases to be profitable. I don't ever envision this to become a reality because of how EvE is setup. CCP could stop updating the game and leave it exactly like it is, forever, and it still would be a true blast to play. Why? Because it's not about the items, but the experience.
