Wandering why fleets seem to generally use Scimitars over Basillisks. Sure Scims get a tracking bonus but Bas's get remote energy bonus, which are useful. Is it to do with fitting / speed? Also anyone got a Scim set-up plz?

Scimis are faster, so they're better for fast moving fleets than basilisks. For BS fleets or anything you don't need to move around in much, basis are better because of the energy bonus.

Either can be very useful but scimi's trade rr capability for speed.

I'd go into it, but then everyone jumps on how armor rr is supposedly superior to shield rr. Basilisk and Guardian are basically on equal ground as being the main line fleet logistics ships. If you fit them right and have two or 3 working together or even a squad of them, they can run 4 Remote reps or shield transporters perma and be cap stable due to getting cap from 2 other sources through cap transfer.

Don't know if this fits your bill, but if you have two of these flying around with each other, you get your perma-running 4x remote sheild rep (8x if you count them from both ships). Gotta watch that they don't get jammed, and make sure they stay in range of each other (which is still 65 km...), and make sure the two pilots can fly together well!

Thanks for the fleet setup, ill keep that in mind. I was looking initially for a solo setup, i imagine with minimal tank but able to perma run an mwd and 2-3 reppers for small faster gang work.

Get scimitar for that, its awesome. And if you dont ***** on killmails unless you are 100% certain it is safe you can always jump through gates/dock during fights.
Scimi can be fitted in two ways, afterburner fitting or mwd. If you arent going to need the speed of MWD (Which is mainly needed to keep interceptors alive that are going to do stupid things), AB will do fine. Depends on the situation which you need, i use both. Dont use tracking stuff thingies, and dont try to permarun stuff, you will never for long times be permarunning both mwds and reppers. With everything running my scimis cap out in roughly one minute, and i never have had cap issues with them.

You don't use a Basilisk for solo work. Same reason you should never be using a Guardian alone, the remote cap transfer bonus is there for a reason. ___________________

One thing, regardless of which ship you fly: if you are serious about logistics you MUST train the skill to 5. Due to the diminutive nature of the skill level 5 grants a cap reduction almost as high as lvl 1-4 combined (percentage wise). It's much, much easier fitting and flying them with lvl 5 and you can be a lot more effective as well.

My 3 repper setup:
[Scimitar, 3 Repper MWD + LSE] Capacitor Power Relay II Capacitor Power Relay II Capacitor Power Relay II Reactor Control Unit II
10MN MicroWarpdrive II Invulnerability Field II Invulnerability Field II ECCM - Ladar II Large Shield Extender II
Large S95a Partial Shield Transporter Large S95a Partial Shield Transporter Large S95a Partial Shield Transporter Drone Link Augmentor I
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
Medium Armor Maintenance Bot I x4 Warrior II x1
You can permarun the MWD and 2 reppers, or turn off the MWD and permarun all three of the reppers. With everything online the cap lasts about a minute, and that is with Logistics and cap skills to V and Shield Transfer skill to IV. With my skills it goes a shade under 2km/s and has over 28k EHP.

I concur with above, Logistics V is an absloute must if you really want to get everything out of it. RR skills at V will open up a lot of fittings as well.
A question though; do you find that a tank is required in Logistics fits? I generally fly with little in defense aside from the odd DC or so I might be able to cram on. Being able to run 4x Medium Repairers and 2x Large Cap transfers without support is worth the paper thin shield, IMO. For the most part, I use an AB, range, and alignment to keep the ship alive if I start to take fire, generally warping in and out as needed.
I find for the most part that if I fly 40-50km behind my fleet mates, generally circling back and forth across the line, I stay un-targeted for the most part. Any of you find this isn't the case?

In small gang combat, the difference between winning and losing is which side has their logistics ships on the field longer. With those ships on the field, it is almost impossible to lose any other ship; Any competent gang would primary a logistics. For that reason, logistics are best in pairs, so they can rep each other. the 60k range is nice for that... OHGODS BELOW THIS LINE IS MY SIG !!!! SRSLY! You would active tank a RR ship that is designed specifically for fleet engagements and for operating in conjunction with a second basilisk pilot?
No offense man, but this fit is wrong on so many levels for what you've stated you want to use it for. How about even just a titch of buffer so that the second basi has time for a cycle on you?

No offense man, but this fit is wrong on so many levels for what you've stated you want to use it for. How about even just a titch of buffer so that the second basi has time for a cycle on you? ECCM can be a bit useful as well for this type of activity. A local tank??? you cannot possibly local tank incoming fleet dps, and to achieve that insufficient local tank, you've sacrificed the buffer which might have allowed you to survive so that your second RR pilot could get through rep cycles on you.
This kind of fit is a little like trying to tank both armor and shields at the same time. If you're going to depend on RR for your tank, why would you nerf the elements that allow you to depend on that RR, to fit an insufficient local tank? Pick one or the other.
I'm not trying to flame you man or anything, it's not a bad fit... it's just not at all appropriate for the stated use. Pilots are taking your fit seriously and they are going to try it out, and they need to know what's wrong with it.
No flame taken, and I gotta say, thanks for the feedback on that one. I haven't been in 0.0 in a long time and that fit is for my Basilisk that I dual box lvl 4's with. So, to clear things up, yes you gotta fly 2 Basi's together, and the LSE to make a better buffer is way better (than a local repper). I do know for sure that ECCM is excellent also, to help keep the logistics pilots locked onto each other longer.
Note to self...get back out to 0.0!! Dr Cedric

Interesting fit but medium transporters are kind of crappy why not go with standard 3 times large but fit tracking links instead of inv field in the mid? ~~~

And:
[Basilisk, AB] Damage Control II Reactor Control Unit II
10MN Afterburner II ECCM - Gravimetric II Photon Scattering Field II Invulnerability Field II Large Shield Extender II
Large Energy Transfer Array II Large Energy Transfer Array II Large S95a Partial Shield Transporter Large S95a Partial Shield Transporter Large S95a Partial Shield Transporter Large S95a Partial Shield Transporter
Medium Core Defence Field Extender I Medium Core Defence Field Extender I

Afterburner or MWD is up to you. Though for 0.0 I would go MWD and for Lowsec I would go AB. With Logistics 5 (like been said before a must) you actually only need 1 of the energy transfers from the other Basilisk to be stable so you can pass the other between your gang. ECCM is a must, even in Lowsec because of ECM Drones and there is always a 'chance' to get jammed so its better to have than not.
For Scimitars find the Cry Havoc kill board and look up Halsoy. They use Scimitars very well. (I'd do it but I'm too lazy).

Well the main issue is that with a MWD, you can't get cap stable with LST II's nor is it easily fit. Besides which in a cruiser gang you shouldn't be too fussed about only having MST II's. The range is only 20km less so 51Km which is fine to me, as for the rep amount, well you do have four of them.
The INV is for extra tank which I find much needed, a couple of tracking links should be anough and still help allot with AC ships now.

@Norwood Franskly, not everyone has logistics V, yes it is very useful, training it myself now, but still enough will be flying it with logi IV.
And if you remove large part of your tank just to fit a cap recharger so EFT says you are cap stable you are doing it wrong imo. Just switch it for an invuln and accept that you cant perma run everything.

cap stable running everything ( one LET on it) with 2 LST on it it has a tank of 706, combine with low sig ( mwd off) and thats very nice :D

I'm sorry but I just can't see how you get cap stable with 3x LST II''s and a MWD. I just don't see how that's possible without gimping my own tank badly, or removing the now decent Tracking Links.
Not to mention the issue with power grid.
Sure enough however I could easily do it with an Afterburner but were not using Afterburners are we ;)

I dislike the fit yo quoted. It wastes a low for an RCUII, has no Tracking Links and wastes a High. Not only that but its tanks worse. All to fit 3x LST's.
So you loose utility and tank for your LST's. Why? Its a ba;ancing act you know.
