While I still think, that any nice out of game music player like exaile, amarok, rhytmbox or banshee are better than the ingame jukebox, I just couldn't stand the fact, that it doesn't work.
Eve, so it seems has difficulties with the path, exported by Wine. You always need relative paths to a windows partition.
Letters for partitions seems strange to me...
Howto
1. open Wine configuration - terminal: winecfg 2. open the drives tab 3. create a new drive letter and enter your path to your music directory
e.g. your music lies in /home/yourname/music. So you set drive M: (or whatever just found it fitting for Music) to this path.
4. open eve 5. right-click the jukebox and enter "M:\" or what letter you set. 6. Wait ages until eve reads your folder 7. Wait some more 8. Listen to your music

What format is your music in?
The new jukebox claims to use MP3 files. Can it still read and use OGG files?
(I haven't been able to check on my desktop, yet.)
The old jukebox used Vorbis encoded OGG files. I convert to and keep all my music in this form. I can covert songs back to MP3, even with the quality loss.

Miraqu, that worked perfectly! Thank you very much!
Unfortunately it only reads MP3, no OGG or FLAC :( Destroying the universe one space rock at a time! |

ok, I have to unattach jukebox from "Accessories" group - but still no luck, I mapped X: as EVE Jukebox directory and no mp3 are listed ...

What is the format of your mp3 files ? Mines are "AUDIO: 44100 Hz, 2 ch, s16le, 192.0 kbit/13.61% (ratio: 24000->176400)", they show up in the jukebox but they won't play.
But yeah, you are obviously interested in my post because you're now reading my signature.
My English might be choppy - I'm not a native English speaker. |

Some songs play, some not, I have a ton of different formats. All collected over the years. In 2000 there were other kinds of bitrates and mp3 formats the standard.
All I can say is, some files play, some not, some are shown and played, some not, some show up, some not. :)
No doesn't play ogg, and flac for me :(

I loaded the EVE internal playlist, and it loaded all the tracks into the player. But wouldn't play them. It just scrolls through the list endlessly. Any guess what this is?
I'm running EVE with wine 1.1.33 under gentoo.
Thanks,
EH

Ok, so I maped mp3s from EVE (~/.wine/Program Files/CCP/EVE/res/Audio/Jukebox) to X: drive (it works), set jukebox properly, playlist was loaded (times, titles ok, scrolling ok) ... but when I pushed play I heared EVE mouse clicking sound in a loop endlesly and game hanged after 3-4 sek with error in console (but sound still was heard):
"fixme:imm:NotifyIME NI_CLOSECANDIDATE"
I have to do kilall ExeFile.exe - then sound stoped of coz
... I use alsa, never had problems with sound for antyhing in EVE with Wine.
