but its a patch and no regular DT so patching is always good ill guess.

Signature - CCP what this game needs is more variance in PVE aspects and a little bit less PVP focus, more content more varied level 1-4 missions more than just 10 per faction high sec low sec and 00 |

I really hate to mention it people, they run the patches and DT whenever it is most meaningful for THEM.
When THEY have the time and resources available to them.
When THEY have the need to do so and it fits THEIR schedule.
But an unannounced DT would be sucky all the same, no matter what time zone.
No matter where you go, there you are.

ffs DT here in the netherlands is from 12AM to 1PM, its breaking the day (or giving us a chance to sleep/shower/eat)
stop whining already for the small percentage of players that really has a ****ed up DT

It's a shame CCP treats players different. Russian and Eastern Europe players suffer every time CCP launches update or extended DT. People here lose full day of gameplay when players from the western hemisphere do not experience even a slightest trouble. This is as bad as racial or sexual segregation.
Put everyone in equal conditions - make all the extended DTs 24h long! Equal play for equal pay!

figured this out in other games as well - downtimes like this are because they are at work. Go play some asian game,you will have downtimes in asian primetime.
Anyone who is actually working in some at least a little bit similair corporation should understand why :)
calling someone in the middle of the night because he "forgot to turn on that yellow button" isnt really fun :)
and even if they order everyone to come to the night shift - something external will ****up,responsible person will have his phone turned off and they will get it back up in the morning anyways..
night shift are run by technicians

So DT happens during Australian prime time because it will interfere with the fewest number of subscribers world wide but one wonders if there are fewer Australian playing because the game is taken down right in the middle of the evening for them. What is it like 9pm in Sidney? I know I wouldn't bother to play a game that went down every evening at 9pm for me.

OMG noez eve is down for a few hours while they install a free upgrade and maybe a couple more hours while they get the odd bugs out.
Get a life, go outside and throw a couple of shrimps on the barby, as I type this it's roughly 3:52 in the morning in aus, and around 19degrees centigrade. It's 16:52 here, and not seen the thermometer in the van rise above 8degrees today so stop yer whining (I always thought it was the Whinging Poms that did all the complaining jees)

Population of Europe: More than 700 Million
Population of USA + Canada: 340 Million
Population of Australia: 21 Million
Perhaps there arent as many Aussies in Eve because Australia is a ****ing desert with fences and dingos and occasional sand storms that
a.) nobody cares about and
b.) has a smaller population on its entire continent than most European countries on their own even if you divided their population by half and is thus lucky to have a connection to the internet at all?
And how about you arent even important enough to influence the downtime period at all since, as mentioned above, its simply done during CCP's working hours.
Not to mention the fact that the Australian dollars you feed CCP with are merely worth 66% of what us Europeans are paying for this game which might at least imply the clue of an idea of a thought that, even if your population and geographical location equalled those of the Europeans, topics like this shouldnt be getting half of the attention of this one, but it had to be said.

EDIT: And how the hell would something NOT happen during anyones timezone? Its not like GMT+1 goes to sleep at some point and lets GMT+2 do its shift.

I cannot understand you, fellow players from Europe. Hell with the regular DTs, they are short after all. But the extended DTs and patching take place in your and mine prime time. Would you like to see the ad "We serve yanks only" on the pubs and restaurants in your country? But it's what CCP do to you at every DT longer than regular. You have to wait (we in Russia had even no chance during Dominion setup as it was finished at 00.00 our time) and then American players come and start ratting, mining, hunting, extending their killboards and so on. They have additional day to play when we don't. I cannot understand why the money of American players have so different value for CCP.

It's very simple. They are not picking a DT based on when it will effect the playerbase. They are picking a DT for when their techs can do their work at a reasonable time. Techs are in GMT-0.

Im from Europe and I would not mind at all if the DT is pushed back 3 hours. It would be middle of the day anyway so very few addicts wouldn't be able to play.

DT is when the CCP tech's are on hand to do it, and when it best suits THEM. When it best suits them is when it best suits tranquillity. And that, is the best time.
It just happens to fall within your TZ. I'm sure if CCP was based in Australia, it would be in someone elses prime time.

I had quite a few lol's while reading this - what wonderfully twisted misconceptions of what it is to be Australian.
I'm in Perth, Western Oz and so DT is 7pm for me - great time to grab some dinner and muck about in Fallout3.
I can see it being a (minor) issue over in the eastern states of Oz as they're 2 or 3 hours ahead, making a 9pm or 10pm DT a tad inconvenient.
Solution - move to Perth; Sydney sucks anyway!
