Is it 'cheating' to transfer weapons I have legitimately earned from one character to another by manipulating the game files?
For instance, my Mordecai has picked up an obscenely powerful Hellfire SMG, but Lilith is my designated SMG expert.
Is it 'cheating' to manipulate game files to give her the same weapon even though I 'earned' it on a different character? Is this more/less ethical than 'trading' weapons with another player?
I figure Eve players would have more insight than the Borderlands forums on matters of pixel-philosophy. Thanks for your thoughts.

Yes, it is. You're a terrible person for even considering such a despicable act.

Cheat all you want in single-player, you're only spoiling it for yourself. Don't cheat in multi-player because then you're spoiling it for others. ______________________________________________

truth.
it is my understanding (and it can be wrong, obviously) that you can trade weapons with other chars in a multiplayer game? (drop it on the ground and then they pick it up) then practically you could give your weapon to someone, and then have them give it back to your other char.
So it's not *really* cheating to do it the easy way. but that kind of opens the door to temptations like: 'well, I *could* sit here and grind for ten hours to gain a few levels or I could just do it the easy way'.
don't be tempted ;)
