Hi all,
Just wondering, I like to hop on random fleets and have some casual fun. It was great when in NPC corps and it should be even greater with the new Fleet Finder feature.
I have tried finding fleets for the last couple of days but nothing shows up when clicking on Get Fleets.
Is something broken in there or is nobody offering any fleets?
Thanks for any heads-up on this topic.
Cheers,
Lord Xantoh |

I've tried it as well with no luck. Maybe I'm just doing it wrong.

The problem some folks might be having is the generally cynical nature of the average EVE player. Given that one of the cardinal rules of EVE is "Trust no one," players might have a hard time finding fleets that are open to pilots at large, as opposed to fleets open to pilots with high standings or corporate fleets.

The Fleet Finder works brilliantly and is one of the best features of Dominion IMO.
That you're in an NPC corp is your issue. I recommend you join a player corp immediately.

Standing filter is still broken last time i checked, which is irritating (Many people who regulary come to providence have holders blue, then when they go have mission fleet in high sec somewhere i see their fleets and standing filter doesnt help against it). But besides that works fine, really handy (Especially that join links arent restricted to alliance anymore).

However: I couldnt find a way to have a fleet for high standings AND corp mates? I will admit here in this very thread to being a bit dim, am i missing it or is this not available?

Sorry but its one of the WORST features ... Example ... you have a spy within your corp/alliance ... you're at war ... NOW you have a nice sign saying .. fleet here ... and its this size ...

If you're so paranoid about spies, simply DO NOT use that part of the new feature. Who forces you to keep the fleet public ?!? You can still do it (mostly) the way you were doing it before.

Tell that to the people in the noob corp fun fleets we have been putting together to mission or do some low sec roaming(granted that one is a bit rare:P). It's been a great way to finally get people in the noob corp to try out teamwork if they have the inclination. You just set the fleet up by standings is all.

Don't make that info pubic in the fleet advert?

Unfortunately (and this issue desperately needs fixing) if you've set to allow based on standings you actually have to set your own corp/alliance mates blue in order for them to be able to join it.
AFAIK there's also an issue in that, if you initially setup a fleet to allow alliance members only, THEN once everyone is in change the fleet to allow based on standings, it won't show up in the fleet finder.

Then you didn't have the hours of fun I had with random fleet people (in NPC corps), be it to team up for WH runs, missions, low sec roaming etc... You get your share of evil people but in which player owned corp doesn't it happen? And those people are dealt with and ignored for future fleets...
The only missing thing is that you couldn't get people from different NPCs corps into the same fleet.
Now with this new feature, I see a chance at getting exactly that though I didn't get any hit on any existing fleets.
So what does one need to do to join a fleet?
Thanks all!

Wrong. The fleet finder is not for finding random fleets. It's for finding allied fleets. This isn't WoW. |

Exactly. If the fleet tool showed all fleets it would be an intell tool just like the local channel, and they're already trying to figure how to get rid of local userlist without causing a riot. So no, it'll never happen.
That's not to say you can't do PUG fleets in EVE, but you got to get the people together manually. |

I think the main problem being is that you cant open the fleet up for players who are nuetral 0.0 standings with you! They HAVE to be +0.10 at least.
Since probably everyone in the galaxy does know you from jack then your not going to be able to see the fleets. The other option is to alow a fleet open to the corp... but as said, noones gona do that in an NPC corp.
However, I'd have to say that when i've opened up a fleet and put an advert up, it seems that very few people are even aware of the feature. So maybe it will just take some time.

Well the ability to not advertise to neutrals is bad. If alliances or corporations have standing list full they cant add more. So any newcomers or new allies slow down the entire process as they need to be linked to channel and invite manualy.
and got forbid if they are more then 20 for big fleets from various corporations or alliances.

Props to CCP for this peice of brilliance in the game.
When servers accidentally and you need to get 110 men into a fleet, THIS is how to do it without all the bs Xs in alliance
the intel it gives about where people are allowing a healthy expunging of tards sat in sations that aren't the cyno alt to get us back etc is very eye opening.
Love the loot audit, can see who looted my drones and what not. Funny how it's always the same names lol

It makes absolutely no difference tbh. If you have spies in your corp / alliance then they're also going to be in your corp chan, alliance chan, intel chans, voice server and probably "oh hai \o/ i iz steelin ur forumz" too.
Heck, if the fleet you're in is intersting enough then they're probably already in it with you, infact they might even be FC.
Personally I think fleet finder is a brilliant tool, its just a shame it doesnt get more use outside of corps and alliances.
