Basically 90% of the times I warp or dock/undock I notice the EVE client will freeze and stop responding for about 10 seconds before resuming.
This has only happened with Dominion.

Edited by: Commander Criton on 06/12/2009 09:07:46 I get this too when i login takes about 1minute for everything to unfreaze/undocking/using contract/market/evemail and viewing peoples Bio's causes are freaze, I've improved it somewhat by doing the following:
Advanced graphics setting set the interval to ONE and disable eve voice (that seemed to really improve things shame really I quite often used eve voice)
Windows 7 64Bit 4GB RAM BFG GEFORCE GTX 280 1GB
Could run two clients all on high before Dominion

I get the same, except it's not just EvE that freezes, it my entire machine. I'm running 2 clients in windowed mode, I initiate warp on one of them and both freezes. I try to move my mouse outside the window and then that freezes aswell.

This is closer to what my problem is, warp on one screen freezes eve on the second client, and freezes say windows media player as well. Smert ili Slava! |

Since Dominion, my system seems to crash regularly when i have two clients running and I get close to a belt, or a station. This totally freezes both clients, although they stay active, and the complete pc. The only solution is a restart of the pc.

Check the CPU load (from Task Manager for example). My experience is that 2 clients now in Dominion can easily eat all cores up to 100% (even when clients are minimised) so there are no resources left to run anything else (in my case couldnt even watch Youtube)..
Made even screenshots comparing the 100% load (by CCPs own Monitor tool) in space (after warp) http://go-dl.eve-files.com/media/0912/eve_cpu_space.jpg and docked in station http://go-dl.eve-files.com/media/0912/eve_cpu_station.jpg

I started having these problems on a fresh reinstall on a new HDD.
Windows XP home SP2 DFI LanParty DK M2RSH AMD Phenom II 940 ATi Radeon HD 4870 2GiB of some crazy armour-plated OCZ RAM.
Everything was fine before I reinstalled windows.
The whole PC freezes upon docking, entering, and leaving warp. Mouse doesn't even move. _____ ^ That is a sig line. It should be there without me having to put one in. |

Thought I'd fixed it, by changing the window style to "windows classic" instead of "XP style", but apparently not. Switching off EVE-voice did nothing, which is good, 'cause I use it alot.
I've had issues with my FPS sawtoothing, (picture attached) and that is fixed by setting the advanced graphics settings "interval" to "immediate", however, this results in 290 - 440 FPS in space, 100% GPU usage, thus increased heat, increased power consumption, decreased life. Not sure if these problems are linked.

This is exactly what happens to me. When I warp or dock, or close the map, entire computer freezes for a (couple of) seconds. It is not a computer related problem, and it started with dominion. It's really annoying

This was happening to me as well. I came across another thread that mentioned deleting a line in your Prefs.ini file that had to do with the browsercache.
This oddly fixed my issue.

I am experiencing the same issue, Game freezes when enterring/leaving warp or station. I play 2 accounts on 2 monitors, each on a seperate Radeon 3850 graphics card. I do not have the cards tied together in crossfire mode. Warping or docking with either character freezes the game for both. This did not happen before Dominion. Recruitment Thread EKT Website |

UPDATE:
I cleared my cache and the issue seems to have corrected it self. Upon further examination... I hypothesis this was a matter of my graphics card not able to handle the load, since the planets were all updated with very detailed graphics... time to upgrade my 8600 GTS NVIDIA DDR3 256mb graphics card.
I would still like the GM to comment, to confirm if this might be the problem, or if there is something else going on as I certainly like the new planetary object graphics.
GM...please comment on how to fix this problem.
Certainly isn't the graphics card's problem on my end. I'ma try that cache-clearing thing, though. _____ ^ That is a sig line. It should be there without me having to put one in. |

Yep I second that. Besides setting the texture quality from high to med only reduces to problem to a playable level, but the animation is far from smooth. Before Dominion I enjoyed how good EVE looked. Now I don't play because I can't bare to watch stuttering animation as soon as I get into space.

Have an ATI 4850 HD, had these problems. I still get a freeze when loading stations, but that's it. I did the following:
1. Disable the High Definition Audio Device 2. Uninstall Graphics Drivers 3. Download the latest ATI Catalyst drivers + CCC (first download not the second which splits the drivers and software into separate downloads). 4. Install the drivers 5. Verify that the HDAD is now listed as ATI HDAD and enabled.

I have a similar problem as most of you.
I run dual clients on one screen. Sometimes, mostly while undocking but not always, one of the clients goes completely black. If I use my mouse inside the client area then the client goes white and the title say that it is not responding. The client apparently keeps working "behind" the crash. As long as I dont shut it down the ship stays in fleet.
I did a mission once when this happened. Since my mission ship was/is a domi I could watch from the other client how the drones pounded the **** out of the mission even if I could not see anything in the "main" clients window. Everything except graphics and input seemed to work.

I've got an ati 4850 1gb. Setting textures from high to medium helps sort of, in the sense that you can play the game. But it looks like you playing it on a five year old comp. This is not acceptable to me. I'm not going to buy another card for eve. So if it's not fixed I will stop playing.

Just today upgraded from a Nvidia 7600GT to an ATI HD4670. Reason was that I run 2 clients in windows and to get a good frame rate with the 7600GT I had to put all graphic settings to low on both clients.
So I puts in my new HD4670 and puts all the EVE graphics settings up to high, happy so far, then I undocked :(
3-5 second freezes after each warp and each jump(which I now understand is due to the ATI card not very happy with the new planets at the high setting)
Anyway putting all the settings to medium worked for me, just a littile ironic that my graphics card upgrade actually slowed the game down.
