What exactly is deadspace? Some kind of alternate universe? Or just deep space with nothing in it? My interest was piqued when I began reading about deadspace bubbles and rogue drones. It is quite interesting, but could I please get some information? I'm a science geek, so please describe in detail. Thanks!

Its the blackness that one does not usually fly into... there were tales long ago of a breed of spacefarers (Before the eve gate actions) that would "Sail" these areas to explore. But of course that was long ago in a area far far away.
These areas are not totally acessible. Its like the space between solar systems that one has no reason nor the ability to fly to. Theres nothing, absolute blankness on these areas.
Hence why these "rouge" drones went out to these areas. Its a perfect area to make things. Noone there to attack you, and noone to compete with for resources.

Deadspace is an area where there is no large masses and so there is no capability to build jumpgates. Jumpgates need a large mass nearby (such as a sun) to operate.
As such, the only way to access these areas are either by acceleration gates or a personal jump drive.
Generally speaking this area has little in the way of resources or viable life support (since distance from large energy sources, ie.suns) and so they are only useful to non-organic lifeforms such as drones.
I roleplay... there is this computer game called "Earth - The First Genesis" where i play a character in the early 21st century. |

No, since those are still accessible through the use of warp drives. Deadspace is the places between star systems, or the large areas without any stars (e.g. Vapour Sea).

I havent seen any sign to how you could get to this Deadspace. But I have found evidence of infected asteroids, crawling with parasite looking drones, tentacles that emits from holes in it sugeting that it's something even bigger inside. And, it transmits this strange signal I have not been able to decipher. There was some pirates around it, standing still around it, almost like worshiping it like a dark god.
It was so sickening, I decided not to linger long. For I feared I had pressed my luck. One day I will return tho, and bring with me more scientists and scanning equipment. If this spreads to a more populated area, I fear for my kindred and family....
