About a year ago, a sniper on youtube stopped playing because of changes to the system.
Now, it's a year since. I would like to know if what he did in the past, can be done again. And what changes would have to be done.
I'm looking at how to best use my covert bomber here as I have a few gate campers on my list I'm thinking about dealing with.

Well, obviously SBs have been updated so they can fit CovOps Cloaks and Warp cloaked. Idk what weapons he was using in the vids, afaik you are using Torpedoes today (Obviously the ones that your ship has a bonus to). Med slots are in most cases sensor boosters, some ppl use dampeners to prevent the targets from locking you back on. But they dont work at bigger ranges afaik, so it depends on your tactic if you should use them. I have seen some Setups that use target Painters, but then you will have to stay until your torps hit the target Lowslots: Maybie stuff like inertias. Or just Ballistic Control IIs if you want the last bit of DPS. Then you will ofc use Faction Torpedoes. Or a Damage Control system to keep your bomber alive for another microsecond to warp out.
My question would be: Bombs: Yes or no?
My planned SB Setup (with bombs) is like this: [Manticore] Ballistic Control System I Ballistic Control System I
Remote Sensor Dampener I, Targeting Range Dampening Sensor Booster I, Scan Resolution Sensor Booster I Sensor Booster I
Covert Ops Cloaking Device II Bomb Launcher I, Concussion Bomb 'Malkuth' Siege Missile Launcher I, Juggernaut Torpedo 'Malkuth' Siege Missile Launcher I, Juggernaut Torpedo 'Malkuth' Siege Missile Launcher I, Juggernaut Torpedo
Small Low Friction Nozzle Joints I Small Polycarbon Engine Housing I
Ofc you would replace T1 with T2 if you have the skills, or use faction if you really want to, but you will loose some SBs while flying them, so dont make them too expensive. EFT-Data of this SB (With all skills V): 326 DPS 338 m/s (Cloaked and uncloaked) Aligns in 4.5 Seconds Torp Range: 60.8 km Bomb Range: 30 km Damp Range: 38+75 Falloff EHP: 1551 :P
Thats my 0.02 ISK for SB fitting, even though I never actually flew one and you probably see this reflected in my fit ^^

stealthbombers now work best in packs along with a smattering of recons. their role has been changed from previous to be more like the submarines of WWII.
as for fitting. if you are going to be trying to solo in one, you will need to fit a point, as you will not be instapopping much anymore with torpedoes. you will need to fit a target painter to maximize your damage and you need to be fit to get out fast when things turn against you.
contact me in game if you really want to use bombers to their maximum potential. here is a recent application of bomber power. killboard link _________________________________________________ Aurora Security is recruiting our wiki page |
