when clearing the field with my noctis after killing everything i encounter huge lag problem looting the wrecks.
detail : 1) after clicking the 'open container' button to display whats in the wreck, there will always be a 2 sec lag and my screen freeze during this lag. 2) clicking the 'loot all' button will cause an even bigger lag, usually lasting 3 sec, during which my screen freeze again. 3) after the loot has already gone to my inventory, the loot window will not disappear but instead it changed to my noctis cargo inventory, this is totally not necessary, if i wanted to see whats in my noctis's cargo hold i can click the cargo button. I think the default change from the wreck inventory to my noctis inventory is causing this huge lag.
can someone please help? |

Suffering from this also. The freeze appears to be accompanied by a significant amount of HDD activity.
If I had to guess, looking up the estimated prices for the items in the new window is partly to blame. Drive is a 72000rpm HDD, not an SSD.

That is probably a good guess. And then the solution should be aparent as well. Defrag. I do not have this problem. Also I read somewhere a while back that the market screen can get bogged down after a while and that we should clear the cache every so often to fix that issue. So I wonder if it is all connected to the pricing of items in your loot as well. Or was that problem corrected already? Unknown... |

have tried clearing cache and defrag hdd. lag and screen freeze still remains the same.
also found out something: when the wreck contains 1-2 items, the lag seems alot smaller. When wreck contains 4-6 items the lag and screen freeze happens most severely. This suggests the issue is related to how the new inventory system handles new additional items, like how Aeraz Sochima describes. |

Many are experiencing the same problems especially those of us who manage large inventories and supply chains. What used to be a great feature with the "loot all" button has now become an unbearable lag wracking wait. as the values load, and it sets up all the hangars and sub containers.
Most pilots do not worry about what items cost when they are trying to loot and scoot quickly in a PvP fight or after winning the field trying to loot the wrecks before reinforcements come.
Salvagers in missions don't care either while looting and salvaging... they are taking everything anyway.
Can they turn off the values of items unless someone requests the value calculations?
What ever the new inventory was intended to make easier, a large enough group have commented in EVE Forums and external forum posts negatively about it. It has slowed down the game, made it more difficult to manage administrative tasks, and made game play considerably less fun.
CCP Please bring back the old inventory, until you solve the lag problem. The good idea fairy didn't help this feature this time around... solving it quickly will be a big deal if the company really means they are player focused.

yeah looting is really a pain if every container needs a 1-2 sec t open and if u loot in a noctis with 4 tractor beams and 4 salvager its absolute only a "lagophonie" :( if they dont resolve the prob i never will loot again, this destroys the fun on the game. |

Hey all,
If you are still experiencing this issue (specifically with looting) or otherwise slow or laggy Inventory can you please run, save and upload your logs, so that we can have a look;
How to LogServer: http://support.eveonline.com/Pages/KB/Article.aspx?id=120
I was on TQ yesterday after Inferno 1.1 went live and had no issues with looting, it was pretty much instant for me. The more concrete information we can get the better.
For example what kind of machine are you running (please run a DxDiag), does this happen everywhere in EVE? Every time you play?
Thanks. |

same problem, with single, dual or tri accounts open. It will only lag out the account that is salvaging rather than the other accounts. It lags when opening a wreck + transfering items from wreck to noctis |

as a side note it did the same thing before the last patch to 'fix' it, it run smoothly after the hotfix. Now we are back to how it was with 1.1

Have passed this on to the programmer to have a look, thank you for the report. If anyone is experiencing the same issue please follow suit.
In addition to this, and I know this is a big ask, videos of this occurring would be much appreciated. I spoke to CCP Optimal about this and he would love to SEE this in action if possible. Thanks everyone again. |

Same behavior, with one client or several. I haven't had time to collect any logs, but the basic problem is as described in this thread--taking items from wrecks slows the game down monstrously since the patch.
This seems to be separate from the generalized framerate drop that I've also seen happen (and which has been described in other threads; won't go into it here). For this issue, my framerate recovers once I close or pull away from the wreck. |

I just found and fixed the issue, which was being caused by repeated unnecessary disk writes. It is quite possible that this issue may have been reduced with today's patch, but it should get much better once we deploy this fix. I can't promise the date at this point, but it's going to be early August at the very latest (we're being forced to take summer vacations would you believe!).
Until then, if the issue is plaguing you, it may help to defrag your HDD and leave disk read/write heavy operations such as video playback alone while looting. Alternatively, this could also be the best excuse you'll ever get to buy an SSD!
Thanks for all the videos/logs/feedback., it made my investigation quite easy |

While I appreciate all the hard work CCP is doing, I must say, waiting a month for this issue to be resolved seems ridiculous. It's tantamount to having my systems administrator tell me "Yeah I know the patch I gave your linux programs made your computers do the "Hello Kitty" theme song when you boot up, I'll look into it next week after my vacation. But, until then, ENJOY! Ta-rah!"
But hey, I hope you enjoy your month long vacation Sir. |

Turn on the in-game FPS monitor and loot something. Guarantee you'll see an FPS drop during the loot action. |

Is it really a good idea to dump an expansion on your player base and then go off on summer holiday? Especially given the history that you minimally test your code on SISI before pushing it onto TQ and then expect your player-base to find and test all those bugs you missed? |

FYI, Running 3 clients on 1 installation.
Inferno 1.1.1~1.1.2 Looting becames a problem where loading (shift-double click) wrecks contents in a new window will cause lag of 1~3 seconds for each additional can/wrecks opened.
The lag of 1~3 seconds then will also happen at "every single" occurrences when I press the Loot All button, seems something is wrong with the transfer of contents from one entity to another during this process.
Inferno 1.1.3 Seems to have solved the issue above, no extensive testing done, but I do not feel the lag
Inferno 1.1.5 The lag is back with this patch, so issue still not resolved
My system is 2.5 years old, I can't get the log server working with multiple clients on 1 installation. It keeps crashing. Remember though, most of us here have not a single lag issue prior to Inferno expansion regardless of our system setups.
I already have Eve running on SSD, so the suggestion of defrag is not a good idea for me and does not apply, thus, the problem has still eluded you (CCP) and therefore I hope you find a solution for us ASAP, because the gaming experience is pretty horrid atm with all the un-anticipated lags popping up everywhere. |

Off Topic: In the culture where I worked before, it's not uncommon when the company asked people to take forced vacation, what's common is that after the forced vacation, they asked those very ppl to not having to come back and redundant them straight away.
On Topic: Anyway, this issue is very much hurting the bearz community who do missions + looting/salvaging for a living (and enjoyments perhaps) which I suspect is a rather significant portion of the Eve playerbase (say...15% ~ 20%? just guessing), you are making the game unplayable for us for whatever reason (yes, my wife doesn't bother logging in since Inferno saves from just updating skill queues, most of her activities has been severely disrupted and game deem unplayable). I hope you (CCP) is not telling us here that we're here to endure at least another 1~2 months of no real fun gameplay (yes yes, I have done other things such as exploration, but I don't always have time to play and HiSec L4 is a very relaxed way for me to kill the limited leasure time I have while keeps a steady stream of game income to keep up with my in-game spendings).
I play Eve because it's supposed to be a game where I can do whatever I like when I wanted to, I do not like it when a certain play style is being forced or imposed on me because some features were changed or broken or deemed the only suitable way for the players to play from the service provider's own perspectives.
I sincerely hope you find the fixes for many of the problems induced by the latest expansion (IMHO, the worst post-expansion experience I've ever had since my almost 4 years of playing) |

im not raging against the devs, the problems and decisions are more down to management than the actual coders. I just feel this should have been an optional feature seen as it didnt work properly on the test server, nor did it with the release vOv
Also its not just level 4's in highsec its to do with any type of looting, wether it be highsec or null. This also covers industrials / miners, people who do exploration. So affects a wide range of people... unless its just a lucky few that are affected |

I use SSD, but I have 0.5 sec delay with opening loot window and up to 1 sec delay after I press "Loot all". It looks like Inventory window updates all tabs in inventory and updates all icons from hard drive - which is not bad for my SSD vertex3 or 2500k processor, but awful texture updates for 9800GT videocard.
And proposition: I use Shift Click on Fuel bay tab - and it always displayed in another window where ever I place it - very useful. Make the same option for Wreck and Cargo tabs. Then there will not be any updates in client for whole inventory after pressing "loot all", and it will be nicely resized to the place each capsuliers would like to see. |

It is telling that these defect repairs are unable to be migrated up to the live server due to personal vacations. If CCP's development process is so wed to individuals and their unique knowledge of particular code aspects, then yikes.
Another big layoff or a few key people decide that the grass looks greener elsewhere and then what happens?
Consider a more robust cross-training and knowledge sharing culture to mitigate the impact of vacations so that you do not have to roll out that excuse every summer (and winter).
Fyi, customers do not really care about how many people are on vacation at a service provider, rather they are interested in the level and quality of service. This is a management issue all companies face and it is time that CCP addressed it. A company that is, what, 400+ strong should be able to swap people in and out of projects to one extent or another.
As an aside, this is tremendously beneficial to your employees as they have greater flexibility on when they can take vacations or spend time with their families. 284 Characters 284 Characters 284 Characters 284 Characters 284 Characters 284 Characters 284 Characters 284 Characters 284 Characters 284 Characters 284 Characters 284 Characters 284 Characters 284 Characters 284 Characters 284 Characters 284 Characters 284 Characters 284286 |

Thanks for all the videos/logs/feedback., it made my investigation quite easy
how about ccp buys me a ssd

I have the same Issue.
How long will a ssd run when EVE writes thousand and thousands duplicate files in...chache and chache backups?
Other Question: Is it neccesary that eve keeps its settings.ini and related files open? People often lose their settings when their computer crashes because this files can get corrupted.

Pretty common really in most medium to large software companies. Esp if they have a reasonably large codebase that has grown over 6+ years.
If it were a critial issue no doubt someone would pick it up, however the time it'd take them to get up to speed on that area of code and fix it often isn't worth it when essentially it can wait.

! I'm not getting an ssd just to cope with some ridiculous new inventory system which shouldn't have ever even been implemented, remove it and demote the person who made it. thats the fix, not all your player base buying new hardware how dare you.

Trying today and looting performance seems much improved. Are others seeing similar?
If so, thanks CCP for getting this fix in, holidays or no. |

same here, went to play silent hunter 4 (REAL sub sim for a change heh)
just tested the patch and its alot better now but there are still a 1-2 sec screen freeze when pressing 'loot all' (used to be 3-4 sec) for me. and opening wreck still has a noticeable lag but at least screen wont freeze anymore. |
