Hi All!
I have a simple question...Is it possible to use a Rorqual in High Sec? I'm asking this cause the other day I saw a Revelation near a station in Amarr solar system. It was used by Chribba! Thanks for your attention. Bye All!

Nope, Rorquals can only be bulit in low-sec, and those that were in production in high-sec at the time of its launch were moved promptly to low-sec.
You have to go for the Orca in high-sec.

Chribba is a bit of an eve celeberity. He's crowned the king of veldspar and when dreadnoughts were first released he got one in the amarr system fitted it with mining lasers and set out to mine veldspar with it. later on, he was given an amarr titan for the same purpose :P
He's not allowed to put weapons on it and is thus the only super-capital pilot who as far as I know operated in high sec. he's the exception to the rule so to speak.
As for your question, ships that have to jump to move to other star systems can not enter highsec. Since I think the rorqual has a jump drive and can't pass through gates, that applies to that ship as well. (unless it was produced in that same high sec solar system and never jumped out perhaps). --------------------------------------------- Somewhere beyond happyness and sadness, I need to calculate what creates my own madness o/ |

As far as I'm a aware, Chribba's titan is in low sec. The only cap he has in high sec is the Veldnaught. ---- The Demigodess with a Conscience - An EVE IC Blog Personal Killboard |

therere is&was some system that show as 0.5 highsec but the "truesec" was bit lower, so its basically lowsec.
So its possible to "appear" in highsec when its still lowsec (amarr is not such system :P)

Edited by: Kleranna on 09/12/2009 12:08:58 The reason for eliminating combat capitals in hi-sec was because CCP felt they were causing a bit too much chaos. Unfortunately the rorqual got excluded too.
There have also been a number of suggestions in the F&I forum to get rid of the restrictions rorquals have on using gates which would allow them in hi-sec again. JF can use gates and they are technically, caps, so there is some precedent for this.
But that is a subject for another forum.

AFAIK there were 10 or so high-sec capitals after production in high-sec was stopped. Some have been moved out of high-sec for breaking the rules that CCP put in place and I suspect the remaining ones are on closed/dead/banned accounts or simply never get undocked.
Chribba being the one exception, who regularly mines in his.

There's a Phoenix and an Archon in Sobaseki that get undocked every now and then.

As mentioned above, Jump Freighters are the one kind of ship with jump drives that can be used in highsec. They're also the only ship with a jump drive that can use stargates.
Are Orcas technically cap ships? That would then make 3 cap ships highsec-capable: JF, freighters, and orcas.

You forgot Black Ops, they can jump, even on a non-covops cynosural field.

Cap ships are all ships that need capital components to be built (2 steps construction, instead of 1 single job with a BPO) - and the manufacturer also need the Capital Ship Construction skill. Freighters and Orca are capital ships - but they don't need the "Capital ships" skill to be piloted. -------------------------------- Fulbert. Miner - Industrialist |
