Edited by: Ishmael WH on 09/12/2009 16:49:46 I am asking this here just because I have asked on the Dev stuff but no one either knows what to do or just ignores it when people ask for some assistance.
I have never in my almost 5 years of playing the game had a problem with EvE (ya I got lucky) but now since this latest big patch, I can't even get to the login screen. I get the Dominion splash and then I get this error
Quote: AppName: exefile.exe AppVer: 6.20.1.51847 ModName: _audio2.dll ModVer: 6.20.1.49212 Offset: 0004f454
Now I can not seem to find anyone else who is having this problem so I don't know what they have done to try and fix it. I have manual patched it, uninstalled and then re-installed eve, I have downloaded all new drivers for everything, uninstalled said drivers and then reinstalled all my audio stuff. So now I am stuck. I just manual patched the new little one and I still can't get in the game. I am running XP and am up to date with all their stuff. So now I am stuck and looking for some help. Please don;t just say "get a new computer" because you are not actually helping, you are just trying to boost you post number which means you're a forum jockey and you need to actually play the game.
Anyway, need some help folks. Thanx _______________________________________________

File a bug report sit on hands
perhaps try disabling audio, think there is a command line option for this.

Might want to try the following:
Right-click My Computer -> Properties -> Device Manager Find you sound card / audio device in the list, right click it and disable it.
Then try start EvE, if it works now, there is a problem with your Audio.
Might help to pinpoint your problem.

You could try to run repair.exe in the eve folder.

My only suggestion is to uninstall Eve (deleting the folder left behind in your profile and else where), Uninstall DirectX, Reboot. Download DirectX from Microsoft. Download and update your Audio drivers. Reinstall Eve clean.
This is considered a clean install. Attempt that and see if that works.

Try
Start -> Run -> enter "dxdiag" -> OK Then check if it finds any problems in sound tab(s) If not, you might wanna try reinstall directx and do a clean install of EvE (delete folder, like above poster said)
Also: Does your sound work in other application and games?

Edited by: Lara Dantreb on 09/12/2009 19:37:12 I would advice you to test your ram with a tool such as memtest86.
when a strange bug like yours occurs and that it happens to anobody else, it's often then ram.

Hi,
I wonder whether this problem was solved, since I encountered this one of my machines.
I'm running Windows XP SP3, and on startup I see exactly the same messag, this machine has a creative sound blaster audio pci 128. It's pretty old, but it always worked, except on this machine and this since Dominion. Updated, reinstalled, ran the repair, changed the prefs.ini to whatever and back to default, ran the logserver but it all did nothing. Just petitioned it and will post what CCP says about it.

Look, it's not the audio, it's the PC. Some PC's are apparently too old to run the new patch, which sucks I think. I petitioned it, after a long talk DX files and such replys stopped. And no where I can find a cure. Reinstalling Eve or DX won't help, niehter will reinstalling windows. Maybe Eve has bought shares in PC-shops?
