I totally agree that 0.0 needs a much needed boost
Hopefully Dominion will produce this with ratting / mining upgrades, as Risk vs Profit in 0.0 is ridiculous compared to risk free level 4's in empire.
That being said, I am very curious how CCP is going to handle the inflation this will cause.
They own and produce a number of items that they can adjust pricing for, to reduce inflation ( Skill books for example )
But with the coming influx of ISK people ( will hopefully ) be making in 0.0, how much will this effect the market?

The population of 0.0 is much smaller than empire. It's not like its an equal see-saw, where adding to one has the same impact as adding to the other.

Hm. Did you even read the thread? The stated goal of Dominion is to increase the appeal of 0.0 and to get more people to go there. I understand that CURRENTLY there are far more people in empire than 0.0, but the idea behind Dominion is to change that. Next time do a little thinking before troll posting mkay?

Did you consider that 0.0 will still fundamentally not be improved upon, population-wise? Please consider the fact that most highsec carebears are not interested in being PvP'd non-consensually before troll posting mkay?
Kalrand's point is very valid and likely to maintain its validity for a long tmie.

Passive aggressive much?
A majority of hi-sec players are simply uninterested in the risks of 0.0 regardless of the reward. Some may be drawn out by Dominion but that hi-sec will continue to have the bulk of players is a pretty damn safe bet.

Edited by: Moir Mukkula on 09/12/2009 20:46:33 There'll be no change from the current state if they balanced it right. What's important is the ISK/h you can make. If you can make roughly the same in 0.0 that you do currently using alts/mains in L4:s people might switch to that instead.
The limiting factor is player time which doesn't increase. So total income isn't affected but how it is generated is.

Did you or the OP read anything about the returns on upgrades? The returns on top upgrades are intended to be similar to lvl4s.

Mining is easier/less risky on wh space and equal rewarding afaik. The scanning upgrades spawn the same anomalies that already exist, are chance based and need to be scanned (more time to divide for). I could be wrong on the scanning upgrades since it is a long time since I read it, but I doubt they changed it. Furthermmore, the combat upgrades have a limit on how much people can exploit them (unlike lvl4s) and need to be full upgraded to match those in isk-printing. If 0.0 improves enough to compete with high se in the future and people moves there I could see that affecting the economy, but I assure you Dominion is not the cause that'll happen. Maybe when/if they improve the upgrades in the future.

Right now the only thing new in 0.0 that approaches Empire L4s is Level 5 Anomalies.

Do you realize that it costs a fortune to have sov, plus all the extras with it? Not to mention that the POSes no longer receive the fuel savings from sov so those costs are going up as well for all the moon mining, reactions, and supercap construction.
So increased income and increased expenses = ??
Also why would anyone want to go to 0.0 where they can be blown up at any minute, camped into a station for days on end, or anything else when you can make the same income in highsec running level 4's without the risks?

I realize it. That's why I put it against the theory of 0.0 being more populated and unbalancing the economy with same incomes that you have in high sec. What increased income are you talking about?

This is wrong. Systems with sov still have their towers getting a 25% fuel bonus.

Oh, didn't realize that. Thats what I get for reading emoragequit threads
Quote: Its more fun? And this is a game?
Very true, however a lot of people would rather spend ISK on plexes than replacement ships.

Many alliances are only going to pay for sov in core systems, and areas where they have existing infrastructure. If you have towers out in bat country, you're loosing your fuel bonus.

Very true, only individually it may not only be a case of risk vs. reward. Many people are aware of the risk and expect to be blown up and get little in return for it. However on a CORP level this may very well be the case. And that's exactly what's flawed with the philosophy of dominion; it was anticipated that empire corps would move to 0.0 to make their fortune.
I have the feeling that this is not the case at all. Yes, we might see more individuals joining the 0.0 Alliances, but in the end, the big alliances are getting bigger and more richer which ironically lowers the chances for newcomers to survive.
In terms of inflation we can only hope that the alliances start to blow up each others ships so 'we' MD people can profit from it.

Mining seems to be the real improvement at this point in 0.0
Currently, with only maybe a level 3 mining upgrade installed, large belts are spawning with ABCM ores inside
On top of that, there are huge rocks spawning like Spoud, with 250k+ m3 of ore.
Thats something like 400m worth of ore in that one rock.

Risking over Between 800mil and 1.5B worth of hardware to collect at most 230mil per WH is not really worth the "Lower" risk factor.
I agree it's less risky compared to low-sec mining, but it's not exactly easier because of logistics and the reward comes with lots of conditions, some that might make the risk/reward ratio extremely weighted on the risk side.
