Here's why, this has just happened and is despicable that it is allowed to happen and it's just "business as usual".
So my character, not this one, was recruited by Goonswarm to be an industrialist, manage a pos, give them tax on it, build them crap. I loaded up my stuff into a freighter, contracted it to Sally Slowboat (their NPC jump freighter character) and was told everything was peachy. Headed down to the base it was supposed to be at, but guess what? Now the leaders won't return any message, won't send me any message, and have blocked me on my alts and my main. So now I am out all the pos equipment, the isk, and the time spent to gather it all up.
The worst part is this is all acceptable! No GM is going to make them give me my stuff back. I just lost it, like that. It's arrogance and stupid bull**** that will cause this game to die. What on earth do you 0.0 folks want? A game where only you play? Guess what, you'll get your wish. And no you can't have my stuff, I don't have it anymore asswhipes. CCP really needs to look at instances like this. It's foolish and they are just loosing customers to pigheaded, e-peen waiving, children (no matter how old they may be).

that's your problem, you should know by know the goons don't recruit outside of their SA forum normally.
and seriously, why would any major alliance have a need to recruit single industrialist to manage a pos? other than to scam, obviously

Post with your Main, and give us a screenie or two of your Contracts window, and we might believe someone would actually do this.

And why should it not be allowed? There are going to be adversaries in the game. They aren't always shooting at you, though. Haven't you ever played strategy games like Risk, Diplomacy, Twilight Imperium? Depending on who you play with, half the game is politics and smooth talking. That's what is so great about Eve. It allows the players to be the bad guys, and leaves it up to the players to define who are the bad guys and how the bad guys are bad.
Really, what is the difference between losing your freighter full of stuff this way, and losing it by getting ganked at a gate camp? Nothing on your end. You still lost a freighter full of stuff. It was just smarter on their end to do it this way because a) they got a freighter out of empire space (my assumption here) and b) none of its cargo, or the freighter was destroyed by the gank. It was a pretty smooth play all in all.
I still offer you my sympathy, but... it's a game, and the bad guy won that round. Now go out there, and figure out how to beat them at their own game.

Actually, that's exactly my point - you SHOULDN'T have expected better. You probably already KNEW scamming is perfectly within the game rules. You also probably KNEW the "Goons" don't exactly have a reputation for being trustworthy. And don't tell me you never, ever saw any "goons recruit-scammed me" threads in the past either. So, yeah, if your mental warning light was broken, don't blame everybody else, you have only yourself to blame.
Quote: But you guys are all the reason these servers will shut down.
Actually, it's exactly this kind of attitude that keep the servers from being shut down. If EVE would be a nice little theme park ride with very little risks and no serious consequences to failing, then it would be no different from many other dime-a-dozen games around (in spite of the somewhat pretty graphics). We LIKE the fact stuff like this can happen. Most of the people that play it WOULDN'T fall for it. You however did fall for it. If that makes you quit, well, good riddance... EVE wants people with a "don't get mad, get even" attitude, not those with "baww, my toys, I'm telling mom".
Quote: Your brass unconditional hatred for everyone but yourselves is going to destroy this game.
Do not mistake plain old ennui for hatred. We don't hate people like you, we look at you with mostly pity and a hint of disgust balled up in a big wad of "notto disu shi'tto agen".

No. Just...no.
Most people who have been around EvE for a while know all about the Goonfleet and their tactics. They're one of the premier scam companies in all of EvE. This has been known to most EvE players for literally YEARS, their methods are well-known and most people in-game know not to trust them in any way, shape, or form.
Just for your own edification, for later on...
1) Goons NEVER, EVER "recruit" someone at random in-game. Their members are made up EXCLUSIVELY from paying members of the Something Awful Forums, and always will be.
2) A Goon contract isn't worth the electrons it's made up of. They are ALWAYS scams. One of the "classic" ones is to tell a new player that they're recruiting, and to send the Goon member contacting them a large amount of ISK. Said new player does, and never hears from that Goon player again. What happened to you is a leetle more sophisticated version of that.
3) Many people here onthe Forums are somewhat "hardened" about this, they've read it again and again, not to mention again ad nauseam. Most are calloused about it, to the point of rediculing anyone who talks about a Goon scam here. There's literally little sympathy left because it's happened so often. That's what you're getting for the most part now.
Realistically, there's nothing you can do about it now - you're NOT getting your stuff back, as what they did is considered a legitimate tactic in EvE. Just as in RL, the world does NOT care about you, and in EvE there's nothing special about anyone, myself included. Live and learn - and never trust a Goonie.

So let me get this straight... They are paying out of pocket money for a ingame service which is against CCP's policy which is apparently a well known fact that goonies pay to be in their alliance but they are all still in business because......?

Goons are much like Scientologists. Don't trust them unless you've paid the RL cash for various levels of membership on their website. And even then it's kind of sketchy.

There are probably a good 30 posts like this all relating to goonies scamming some player into going to 0.0, either popping them and/or stealing there stuff. And those are only the ones where someone came to the forum and complained.
If those didn't catch your attention. Well goons did the whole jihad thing. They took out the graveyard, I believe as well. They had the whole bob is evil campaign just so they could take over bob's space.
The list goes on and on None of it was against game policy.
So with all this going on I find it hard to believe people still trust them. Not that any any other 0.0 alliance would be any better it is just you can't say you were not warned.

SA forums is a place with hundreds of thousands of subscribers. There are maybe 5k people in Goonswarm.
ServiceMembership does doesn't guarantee citizenship acceptance ! If you subscribe to the SA forums with the sole intention of becoming a member of Goonflet, chances are, you WON'T be accepted in. It's no different from, say, only accepting members that have a library card, or registered gun owners in Michigan... on top of several other requirements.
Goonswarm - helping in making eve less of a soft target since... well, whenever it is they slithered in. I look forward to the next tear-filled "baww, Goons killed my dog" ragequit thread.

I really hate to nag, but the word "beginner" was the word that got me knocked out of my 4th grade spelling bee, so I'm kinda sensitive to it.

They don't make a secret of it.
Try to research the alliance you are joining a little bit. It would have taken 1 question to have avoided losing your stuff.

I won't move to 0.0 because I simply don't enjoy PvP combat, and I certainly don't enjoy losing ships that cost me time to acquire. On the other hand, if I were so inclined to relocate, I'd at least do some homework on whatever organization I might be tempted to join. The Goons are infamous for this particular scam, and the smallest amount of research would have revealed this.

Not quite.
Something Awful.com is a Web site where the lowlifes of the Net often congregate. To misuse a quote" Never on the Net has there ever been such a wretched hive of s****and villany". The site has a two-tier scheme to access their Forums - free limited-access, or you pay the site a fee per month for full Forum access. The Goon forums are of the type that you have to have full access to post on - and Goonfleet requires you to post there to be "recruited". Goonfleet does not charge for admission, nor do they recruit outside of the Something Awful Forums, The money goes into the pockets of the people who run Something Awful. You may see this as lawyering - it is not against CCP's rules in any way.
CCP's rules have mostly to do with IN-GAME items being traded for RL money - ISK being a "in-game" item. What Goonfleet does is outside of that.
