Edited by: McRoll on 11/12/2009 17:50:53 Hi, I'd like to know from you how your SP have progressed since the creation of your characters (your mains more exactly).
For example, my char has been created somewhere June 2008 and i have 24 mil. SP right now, I took a break of around a month once and remapped once. The reason I'm asking this, is because I want to know if I have made mistakes with my skilling. I have a feeling that I should have more SP than I do :(

Playing for about a year and closing in on 14mil. This of course was after remapping Perc/Int...so it's nice and high. On another note, I also have an annoying sig.

24M SP isn't too bad for 1.5 years in the game, my first two chars have 35-36M in just over 2 years. It's hard to focus and specialize at first while training support skills, since you're hopping between all different skill attributes and rarely training at your optimal sp/hr. After awhile you settle down, re-map and focus on just a particular field, without being gimped everywhere else.

Lets see I think this character was created in 2006 or 2007 and I just passed 4mil SP last night. I like Eve a lot but it's so hardcore that it's hard for me to get addicted to it since I do not have the time or the energy to truly commit to an MMO atm. So what usually happens is I play when I need just a taste of MMO life, or when my xbox breaks, but I wonder where I'd be if I'd just stuck with it at the beginning? Probably flying a capital by now.

this character has existed off and on for maybe 3 months total (maybe a bit less), and I'm at just under 4M SP right now. I have horrible ADD when it comes to skills, so I can't really focus my attributes anywhere, so I have my points pretty spread out. My Int/Mem/Per/Wil are all about even.
I save money on clone upgrades though?

23.9M sp; character created in September 08. I did the very slow, very painful process of training up my learning skills to 5-4 immediately, and focused mostly on drones (Mem/Per was my highest attribute combination) for a good chunk of my first year. I've only recently remapped to i12/p12, so that I Can learn ship/weapon skills a little faster while at the same time learning core skills pretty quick. I can hardly wait 'til this time next year, to remap to p13/w11 - all my core skills will be up by then, and it'll be nothing but ship/weapon skills for the rest of this character's life.

... what implants do you have? I have all learning skills at V, started in September '08, and I only have 22.1M.
How the hell are you 2 million ahead of me?

I've had +5's ever since about a month into the game. I mined my little butt off for more than 8 hours a day, saving up money and buying nothing except those implants.
And I should clarify: I flew nothing but a T1 frigate (Bantam or Kestrel) for the first month or two of my character's life. From day 1, having read this forum, I picked Achura and the FIRST skills I bought were the learning skills. Eve University provides free low-level skillbooks, so I was able to grab the 6 Rank 1 learning skills very early.
That first billion-and-half earned in my first month of playing (approx. cost of a full set of +5's around a year ago) was earned entirely from Level 1 missions and mining in a frigate with Eve University.

Ok so its not as bad as I expected, not too much behind. I decided not to train the rank 1 learnings to 5, currently rolling with 4/4 in basic and andvanced learnings and +4 implants. I wonder if it makes any sense to train the basics to 5 soon, or would you say "If you spent the time wthout them already, just leave it as it is"? I plan to stay around for a while, so maybe Im losing too much on training time?

The sooner you get them out of the way the better.

Hi, you should train no skill with less than 40SP per minute (21m SP per year). If you don't, you have made some mistakes along the way. By now, you should have 30m SP instead of 24m.

Started my main (this guy) in August 2007, got a tad over 36 million. I started my alt a couple months later, but he hasn't used the same grade of implants as my main (+3s vs. +4s 99% of the time), so he only has 30 million.
I think it's funny watching these forums. The more things change the more they stay the same. People still come on these forums every day QQing new players will never 'catch up' (as if that's somehow relevant to the game) on skillpoints, and how 0.0 is totally inaccessible to the new guy. Both of which have proven to be completely untrue during my stay here.

You're doing about 15.6 mil a year. If you are a 0.0 meatshield, you're doing well. If you live in empire, that number could be higher but it isn't terrible. |
