I once took two weeks off work just to play this game.
I tried to play it, but got suckered into the telepathic plot line. Dont get me wrong, the powers you get are awesome. It killed the game for me. OHGODS BELOW THIS LINE IS MY SIG !!!! SRSLY! Blane Xero > Lance is at -0.9 sec status with a 1 million bounty. Lance is also amarrian. Thats 3 evil points |

for old games, give me Fallout 1 and 2 or give me death.
I've owned and beat both. F2 still work on Windows Vista :P F1 sadly don't and now my copy has gone into hiding :(

Never met anyone who has played them. :(
I've played a few of these; X-com was to hard for me (I was like, 9 or 10 :O) so I gave it to a friend and he loved it.
I've been considering getting The jupiter incident ever since same said friend played it while I watched. I love the idea behind that game's controls, epic stuff really.
I still own a copy of Lords of the realm 2, though I've not played it since I got it the first time, years ago, as I got bored of that gaem REALLY fast.
Beyond that I've not seen nor gamed any of the ones listed, though I heard once that Seven kingdoms was supposed to be rather good. That was years and years ago however...

Edited by: Shasta Racka on 14/12/2009 18:42:11 Tongue of the Fatman. - Old 2-d fighting game for DOS, where you could pick aliens with really freaky moves, and buy special weapons with the money you won.
One Must Fall - Another DOS fighting game where you buy robots that you can upgrade.
Shadowrun for Sega Genesis - RPG based on the pen-and-paper fantasy/cyberpunk game.
Dune II - Sweet RTS based on Dune, set the standard for RTSes.
Bushido Blade - for Playstation 1. Awesome samurai fighting game with one-hit kills. No memorizing combos, this involved real skill.
Syndicate - DOS game where you control up to 4 agents that you can equip with all sorts of funky weapons, and send them on killing sprees.
Planescape: Torment. Awesome RPG based on D&D planescape.
Not totally obscure, but I don't think any of the above were mega-hits. Here are some big hits that are worth revisiting if you can find a decent DOS emulator:
Any of the Sierra quest games (King's Quest, Space Quest, Police Quest)
The entire Ultima series
LucasArts adventure games: Full Throttle, Monkey Island series, Grim Fandango

Two Oldies but goodies from the Win 95/DOS era:
Jagged Ailliance 2.
only thing that could have made this better would have been some kind of multiplayer.
M.A.X. (Mechanised Assault and Exploration) Turn-based stratagey game where all your units were massively customiseable and upgradable. plus one of the best implementations of combined arms in a stratagie game for a long time.
both are 100% worth hunting down if you can

For those that dont know, Secret of Monkey island was recently re-released as a 'special' edition, redone art, voice actors... and the best part, press f11 (At any time), and your back into the original version in its full glory
So much win being mentioned in this thread.. Steams been pretty happy with me.. Couple of eBay orders have already been placed

Going to be a nostalgic Christmas, for sure. |

Ooh, now that I remember and loved.
Cannon Fodder, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannon_Fodder, also was another good one from the same sort of time if I recall correctly.

I liked the old Dungeon Keeper game as well.
Age of Empires I liked.
They don't make games the way they used to now a days :P
Despite me trying new CRPGs no one of them ever lived up to F1 and F2. New CRPGs are unfortunalty only hack and slash games with all too much focus on graphics, and not gameplay and storyline. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Its not that its overlooked, its just for few people.
I love SWAT 4, and if I ever feel the need to feed the tactical need I go play SWAT 4.

Master of Orion II http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_of_Orion_II:_Battle_at_Antares
This was my favorite space game pre-eve. I was into RTS games alot when I was younger and Baldur's Gate (not the dumb console versions either, talkin teh good pc ones). So I played stuff like Warcraft (won't mention the other mmo here) the RTS and STarcraft. So I'd like to throw you a bone on a good rts that was fun
Metal Fatigue http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_Fatigue
This is a RTS using Mechs and was pretty deep. You could blow people's arms and weapons off and pick em up, put em on yoru mech. And you could Churn out mechs like crazy..I'd suggest either of these games.

Dwarf Fortress. It's free, and the most complicated enjoyable game ever. It makes EVE look like candlyland.
