Hi all,
I am trying eve again, having struggled the last time i played. the game really appeals to me and i just need to find a way to get into it!
anyway my question, i think i know what i want to do and that is to become a scout, blockade runner type of guy. i am not sure what skills i need to be aiming for, what race/bloodline may be best suited (i quite fancy a minmater) or if a blockade runner scout is even worth while.
i am not asking for a full walkthrough or anything, just a few ideas and what i should aim for at the start to get me going.
Thanks alot

Any race will do. They are all the same other than 2 racial skills which you can quickly cross-train anyways. Pick a portrait you like.
I think you'll probably want to aim at a Force Recon ship (cruiser class hull), though I'm not sure which ship racial would be best for your purposes.
Until then you could aim lower for Covert Ops. Not as useful for combat, but very capable scouts. You also get to pilot the nasty Stealth Bomber (Minmatar Hound is superb, Caldari Manticore easier to fit) as a bonus.
Something to consider anyways.

Well, it might be minmatar.. but the prowler is a cool little ship. You can haul stuff anywhere in one of those, adn I've scouted in one a few times. Other cool ships are things like an anathema, for probing, and the stealth bomber. The sb can double as cov ops scout and damage, even tackle. nice allrounder.
This is also a good alt career path. Work out a skill plan with eve-mon chasing ships like these, and cov-ops cloak and such.
All races can fly all ships, so dont let this influence you. there is no real diffferent these days in the training.

Basically a scout is anyone with a ship nimble enough to be able to escape a gatecamp. Cov-ops ships are specifically designed as scouts, being able to fit a covert ops cloak(able to warp cloaked) while still being agile and fast. Cov-ops are quickly trained however and while this sounds like a good plan for short term, for long term...well, you'll pick up something that interests you on the way.
Just one thing: find people to play with. Everybody needs scouts.

Pro scouts are invaluable to groups who operate outside of safe space. Scouting is also heavily dependant upon player skills and decisions. There is no "gate camp running V" that you can train up. You have to learn to beat the camps by doing it over and over and sometimes losing ships.
Other than the obvious ship choices (covert frigs, recon cruisers, and blockade runners) I also recommend interceptors for scouting work. The amazing speed comes in very handy. Race doesn't matter too much.
For the blockade runners I like the Prorator for speed and nimbleness (4 low slots). I like the Prowler for any runs involving wormhole space - it's the only blockade runner with 2 high slots so you can fit a probe launcher and a cloak.
Good luck!

Scouting and hauling in a blockade runner are two different things.
For scouting minmatar is great (probably even best). I suggest you start with: Minmatar Frigate V Covert Ops I Cloaking IV
But you really want to get ASAP at least these: Electronics Upgrades V Minmatar Frigate V Covert Ops IV (but V is way better) Electronics V Cloaking IV or V Warp Drive Operation IV or V Evasive Maneuvering IV or V Navigation IV or V Astrometrics IV or V Astrometric Rangefinding III or more Astrometric Pinpointing III or more Astrometric Acquisition III or more
You should also aim to take an Agony PVP Covop course (PVP Basic and PVP Wolfpack courses are prerequisites).
