Can we have a security market where we can buy and sell security, have concord put up a standard price of say 10m per .1 sec then can let market forces even out the price.
Benefits the carebears and pirates, and allows a very expensive way to make ammends for past "mistakes".

I'm not fond of an idea like this as there are players out there sitting on billions of isk. Imagine the most rotten outlaw who is free to actively shop at places like Jita, Dodixie, Rens, etc just because his alt provides the money. Doesn't seem right (especially since a market like this is technically a bribe of the sort. )
I feel that if you're going to actively lose sec status, i.e. pirate, and you need to shop/travel, it only seems right that a player will either A) use his alt, or B) chain rat to gain the sec back. It's def. not hard to do.
Basically, a security market is essentially an win button for loaded outlaws to travel freely without facing the consequences they may deserve. ......,,,,,,,,;;;;;;;;;;;;:::::::::::://///////// |

Edited by: Warrio on 14/12/2009 04:41:20 In a galaxy where anything can be lost or gained for a price I see no reason why this shouldn't happen. I could definately see the price of goodwill getting very high as it rightly should. This would be a perfect addition along with the more robust bounty hunting system that CCP has talked about on and off for the past 5 years. Additionally the isk sink would definately please Dr Computer-game-economist-guy since it would drive up the price of money.
If anything I would set the base price at 100 (even 500) million for 0.1 sec. - |

This post is made of WIN and unicorns! I fully support it!
As for Enos Delekore's logic: You're allowed to bribe Concord to have war's in high security space against other corporations. I'm sure for a nominal fee they would overlook such a transaction.
Both carebears and naughty pirates can benefit from such a transaction!

Don't like it.
With the ISK you can make ganking a single freighter in high-sec you can afford to pay for the security status loss and still turn a profit. No one would ever be safe in a freighter again.

The amount of people you need to destroy a frieghter would ensure that it would not be cost effective in buying sec to pay off the loss.

Concorde is dirty and rotten, sure - let people pay isk to amend for past mistakes.
I mean, faction rats allready do this in hi-sec. I dont see concorde spawn to kill the rats there.
I reckon this could get more people into lowsec for pewpew.. ratting sec status is a 0.0 sec discipline only, and if you dont care for big allinaces - you are most definately not going to loose your sec without some means to get it back up.. not if your smart anyways.

Lets look at the facts here:
Just purely for example, say a freighter gank in high security space costs you -1.0 of your security status. 15 people are required to gank a freighter. thats -30 points of security status. (15 people x 1 pt each) / .1 = 150 150 x 10 million = 1,500,000,000 ISK
So not only do you have to break 1.5 billion ISK just to break even for your security status loss, you also have to cover the ship values - less insurance.

The final market price can't really be projected right now as the supply would be very high and the demand is unknown. I imagine people living in 0.0 couldn't care less, most 'honest' pirates probably neither. That just leaves the highsec griefer and while there's certainly plenty of those, it doesn't match the order of magitude of mission runners we have. Initial prices would probably be very high and then constanly fall as missionrunners close to 5.0 trade their "excess" standing. Is there even a sink somewhere? I don't see any. We'd end up with everyone being 5.0. Now that's just great....
