I was thinking if it was possible to use an Orca as a mobile command/repair/refuel/salvage/whatever base, for ratting or even small gangs.
Any thoughts about it?

Well it is an industrial COMMAND ship.
It excels as a mobile base. The only thing I wish is that it could use the ship fitting service on itself so I could swap gang links for tractors while still in space.
May end up getting a second someday for my buddies logistic alt so they can use each others fitting services for that purpose. I also have wonderful visions of running it with 3 ganglinks once I get into a marauder in about a year and won't need the Orca for a 70k tractor range.
As it stands now I got it fit out with 3 tractors so once I'm getting to the end of a room I'll bring the Orca in from its safespot to make a wreck ball and swap out my drone links for salvagers.
I also keep the various modules for different fits on my BS in it so I can refit with out having to return to base I keep extra ammo in it replacement drones, different types of drones for specific rats, mission specific hardners.
If I go into a mission and decide I need more tank just use the Orca same if I need more gank. Different rats in different rooms? Fine hit the Orca and swap to proper hardeners.
That ship is seriously pimp. I just keep dreaming up other things to do with it. High sec mini-freighter, mobile base, command ship, Salvage facilitator, the posibilities are almost endless oh and it does a good job on mining ops too :)

Of course! The Orca functions as a mini capital ship, and it can follow your gang through the stargates. Keep it in a safe place, and you can use it to store your gang mate's alt ships and fittings. It has a nice cargo and corp bay, so you can keep loot in it too. I suppose you could use it as a repair station if you were to slap reppers on it...
The Orca has plenty of uses in hisec AND 0.0! It could do with a jump drive, other than that, it is a cheap way of gaining a small mobile command post.
